All weekend at a festival with no digital signal so no card payment option.
I try to use it regularly as I don't want cash to go as an option.

This is me. Always prefer to use cash when I can. Handed over £30 for my share of a restaurant bill only an hour ago.

Today and like previous posters above I try to use cash whenever I can, I don't like the idea of a cashless society.

dovesong · 12/07/2023 23:50

I use cash to tip whenever possible, so a couple of days ago. Other than that it's usually just to pay the dog

dovesong · 12/07/2023 23:50

to pay the dog walker or to frantically find a quid to get a trolley at the supermarket...

StEtienne93 · 12/07/2023 23:51

Last week, on holiday. Used cash for parking and also to pay for some rides at the fairground.

dreamonlucid · 12/07/2023 23:52

HeddaGarbled · 12/07/2023 23:54

This morning in a parking machine. Rural - patchy internet for all this parking app malarkey.

Toohotforchips · 12/07/2023 23:55

You aren't half asking a lot of questions OP. Are we in some kind of study you're doing?

Sunday. Ice cream van. 99 flake. Toffee sauce.

Alloveragain3 · 12/07/2023 23:59

3 times this week.

Cleaner, chocolate bar in a small newsagents and paying a mate back for an Uber

the80sweregreat · 13/07/2023 00:00

Today. The till machine in a card shop has stopped working.
Luckily I had the right money

Cayol · 13/07/2023 00:15

A long time ago, probably years.

EBearhug · 13/07/2023 00:19

At the weekend at a fête. I haven't spent anything of any sort since then, other than a tank of petrol (which was by card.)

Charliecatpaws · 13/07/2023 00:23

Two weeks ago buying raffle tickets, an absolute fluke that I had cash in my purse

stayathomer · 13/07/2023 00:26

Today- card has now been declined three times recently! One was their machine, one was the bank putting a hold because of suspicious activity (we were on holiday and had informed them we were going!) and then yesterday I had less money in the account than I thought. Also gave kids money for cinema sweets!

readbooksdrinktea · 13/07/2023 00:29

Today. My grandmothers still give cash as presents.

XenoBitch · 13/07/2023 00:29

Today. A friend paid me for something in cash, so I have been using it.

user1471453601 · 13/07/2023 00:30

Today. I paid my cleaner and the lady who does my ironing. My hairdresser also didn't accept card payments. She explained that she had to pay the card folk and as a one hand band,couldnt/didn't want to.afford it. Fair enough.

Maggiesgirl · 13/07/2023 00:30

At least before the pandemic, probably about 2018

Thewarrioress · 13/07/2023 01:33

Today, well it is past midnight now so yesterday. Ice creams.

I use cash every day.

YoongiMarryMe · 13/07/2023 01:51

Today (yesterday I suppose). I pay for everything in RL with cash. I pay my bills in cash, everything I buy in a shop, days out etc.

When I first left home I would take out all my pay and have several envelopes with what needed paid on each and I’d budget this way. Don’t do the envelopes anymore but still find it best to pay cash to budget. Am pretty low income but have zero debt which I put down to dealing with cash rather than card. But that’s what works for me and I know it’s not for everyone.

tobee · 13/07/2023 01:53

Can't remember when I actually did.

I nearly did today for a locker at the swimming pool. In the end I was directed to a different changing room which didn't need money (20p) for the locker.

Recently I've found that there are trolleys loose and so no £1 required for slots.

I was only wondering yesterday when the default flipped from "cash only" to "card only".

I have a new debit card and need to activate and worried I'd forgotten my pin.

Littleroundsponge · 13/07/2023 02:02

Last week at the hairdressers.

peaceinourtime · 13/07/2023 02:08

On a day to day basis when and as required. I like using it to by for small incidental things as it makes it easier to keep track of how much money you have then paying by card 🙃
