More or less everyday. I draw out cash weekly and use that for everything except for fuel and parking if the machine is card or phone payment.

UsingChangeofName · 12/07/2023 23:20

Today.
Twice.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 12/07/2023 23:21

A couple of days ago. Greggs wanted 5p for a paper bag.

justlass · 12/07/2023 23:22

Today to buy drinks. I try to use cash if I'm eating or drinking out.

Today. Kids at primary school selling cakes for fundraising. Yesterday for the playgroup. And the £1 for the trolley at Tesco last weekend.

Surely everyone still uses it quite a bit? I couldn't have used anything else for these.

Our small village school takes cards! It got a Sumup machine a couple of years ago. And the playgroup you can pay online for each term.
I’ve used a trolley coin for about a
decade too. So no cash needed here.

Ambi · 12/07/2023 23:26

2 days ago, £1 for a school raffle. Very rarely spend cash, although I've just started getting my nails done and she's the only person who is cash only. All other businesses are card or bank transfer. This I prefer as I get cashback on card spends and interest on cash in the bank. The £20 languishing in my wallet for months earns me nothing.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 12/07/2023 23:26

Last Friday to pay for a taxi
They do take cards but it costs them 25p to process it

Ambi · 12/07/2023 23:27

I have a handful of trolley tokens in my car and bags so I don't need a £1

Isthisreasonable · 12/07/2023 23:28

3x this week already. Raffle plus 2 collections at work.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/07/2023 23:28

I try and use it as much as I can.

Aqua22a · 12/07/2023 23:29

Yesterday in the supermarket and to pay for parking at the ticket machine. Could have used the app but didn't have it downloaded and quicker to use coins.

Indigotree · 12/07/2023 23:29

I use it daily, for shopping.

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 12/07/2023 23:32

Today

pippapipps · 12/07/2023 23:33

Every time I'm shopping

HirplesWithHaggis · 12/07/2023 23:36

Last week, to pay my GP for a letter.

AnneElliott23 · 12/07/2023 23:37

At the weekend on a bus.

FreeQuote · 12/07/2023 23:37

Yesterday when I paid our cleaner as she prefers cash, so it’s cheaper.

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 12/07/2023 23:38

Today when I contributed to a work collection, before that was probably months ago apart from for my shopping trolley.

WaxhamSeals · 12/07/2023 23:38

CharlotteStreetW1 · 12/07/2023 23:16

I'm on holiday in Europe. Cash is very much king here still.

Whereabouts in Europe? I’ve been in France, Italy, Switzerland and Poland and paid for everything by card, even at market stalls

Gingerlygreen · 12/07/2023 23:39

Every day.
I get paid mainly in cash then spend some most days in the supermarket.

I also sent £2 into dd's school today for a cake sale

Iworkformeanies · 12/07/2023 23:42

Precipice · 12/07/2023 23:07

Earlier today, thrice.

I pay mostly in cash, because I want to demonstrate support for cash payments and keep them around. I am very much against a cashless society for privacy reasons. Also, coins and notes are just nice!

This is me. Always prefer to use cash when I can. Handed over £30 for my share of a restaurant bill only an hour ago.

Refrosty · 12/07/2023 23:43

Bloody school! Multiple times in the past few weeks. One day I was caught out with no cash and it meant two grumpy DC because I couldn't buy them PTA (Aldi) ice lollies.

OddsOn · 12/07/2023 23:46

On Saturday at a fete but before that I really can’t remember, years ago.

Member589500 · 12/07/2023 23:46

Several hundred £ to scaffolders last week as I needed it quickly and had no choice.
Apart from that it’s only the constant work collections for leavers/babies/weddings/ celebrations. Must be £20 a month in fivers!

Not everyone is at the playgroup/primary school stage in life. None of the supermarkets around me need coins for the trollies.

parking I do by App

I honestly cannot remember the last time I used cash for anything. But I was in the local supermarket last week and the guy in front gave the young cashier cash and the poor kid looked like a rabbit in the head lights, she had no idea what to do.
