Not entirely sure I know my PIN number anymore...

sashh · 13/07/2023 02:25

Last week, the community shop only takes cash.

yesterday

I prefer cash. It helps me to budget. I get really annoyed when places are card only

Icepinkeskimo · 13/07/2023 03:19

I try to purchase every day to day purchases in cash, firstly it occurred to me some months ago it was all to easy to tap or swipe the card without a thought. My spending was out of control, now I take a set amount out in cash and that’s my budget for the week.
Secondly I am absolutely against a cashless society, for numerous reasons.

FindingMeno · 13/07/2023 03:24

I use cash all the time, in fact I rarely use a card.
I am absolutely opposed to becoming a cashless society.

Not in the UK at the moment - bought food from a street kiosk.
In the UK, not the last time but after lockdown I got caught out at a beach kiosk that sold food and only takes cash.
Last time was either £1 for the swimming locker or for a collection at work for someone leaving.

Ponderingwindow · 13/07/2023 05:48

I’ve had the same cash in my wallet for at least a couple of years at this point. I don’t remember the last time I spent cash.

I did provide dd with some cash recently. She was going on a school trip and I wanted her to have a backup in case the debit card I got her wasn’t working. She used the card.

BirdWatch · 13/07/2023 05:52

I just put some in a birthday card. Before that a couple of months ago for pizza delivery tip.

ArcticBells · 13/07/2023 05:53

Yesterday to buy milk

ZeroFuchsGiven · 13/07/2023 05:54

I use cash more than I use my card tbh.

Whereabouts in Europe? I’ve been in France, Italy, Switzerland and Poland and paid for everything by card, even at market stalls

Same here in Finland, Sweden and Italy

notacooldad · 13/07/2023 05:58

Last night.

IncomingTraffic · 13/07/2023 06:02

I can’t remember.

I very rarely even use an actual debit card because I can pay by phone. I’m not sure I know where my card is.

I hate cash. It’s a pain to carry around and change is so annoying.

BusterGonad · 13/07/2023 06:10

How do all the cashless folk cope when it's cash only? I hope they don't rely on their mates to sub them. I don't understand how people live without cash. I would find it hugely inconvenient.

TodayInahurry · 13/07/2023 06:13

Local shop this week

Findyourneutralspace · 13/07/2023 06:16

I put £10 in a birthday card for a kid last weekend. Other than that, yonks ago.

I hate cash only. I’d just go elsewhere.

Longsleepneeded · 13/07/2023 06:19

Yesterday. I use cash several times a week, and always need it for school fairs and my son has pocket money and uses it in the local shop on the way home from school. I don't understand how people never need it!

Coffeaddict · 13/07/2023 06:23

Last week to buy something off marketplace

Whichwhatnow · 13/07/2023 06:29

Yesterday. I use cash pretty much every day, the local supermarket has cash tills still and a couple of cash self serves and all the little corner shops and fruit and veg places etc still take cash.

I do it deliberately so I always have change in my wallet for buskers/beggars etc. Bristol has a massive homelessness problem and I know how badly many people in this situation have been hit by the move to a cashless society - people just don't have spare charge regardless of whether they would have given it before when they did.

Not going to get into a debate about whether it's right to give money to people in these circs btw.

megletthesecond · 13/07/2023 06:30

Tuesday. Supermarket.

NatMoz · 13/07/2023 06:35

Yesterday, £2 for a church toddler group.

Roselilly36 · 13/07/2023 06:41

I make a point of using cash, much easier to budget, and it’s a case of use it or lose it.

maddiemookins16mum · 13/07/2023 06:41

Last week in a cafe for tea and bread pudding. Yesterday for sausages and mince at the butchers.
