The fact that the Sun are back tracking like the billyo tells me everything I need to know

Yup! And that still won’t be enough for so many.

@Supergirl1958 to be honest I don't really care either way. If he is genuinely mentally.ill then as with any other human, he is entitled to appropriate care and help.

HOWEVER the general public have a right to say they don't want to see his grubby face on their TV screens any longer.

Think this sums it up.

Labtastic · 12/07/2023 20:55

And? Oh, that means this 60 year old man can ask your teenager for dick pics does it? Because he’s depressed? Poor love.

This 100%
Sorry no sympathy at all. So convenient to reveal serious mental health issues now.
Sickening.

Is this confirmed? Or has this allegation now been debunked as the Met has said there has been no criminal activity?

Are you just doing Murdoch's job for him? 🤔

Labtastic · 12/07/2023 20:56

Obviously the top two paras there should have been bolded; they're not my words

Tawstrong · 12/07/2023 20:58

“he has suffered another serious episode” says his wife, which suggests he has tried to take his own life. That will be why he’s been admitted.

Inpatient mental health hospital is NOT the same as the priory rehab facility which celebs self check into… ie Katie Price.

An inpatient mental health hospital is only available to those who are seriously mentally unwell/ in crisis that cannot be managed at home. Even if you can pay.

He will likely be on constant or 4 hourly observations, ligature points are minimal- they will have special mirrors, curtain rails and clocks. Nothing off the shelf can be installed- it’s all specialist items to minimise risk of self harm. You don’t want to be there unless your life is at risk.

Get your facts right before you spout crap about using mental health as an excuse!

All the posters seizing on the mental health issue, and saying other posters are being naive for "falling for it" - is it not documented that he has had long term depression?

Also - how naive are you for falling directly into the Sun's lap on this? You are literally doing their job for them. They drop a titbit of juicy gossip into the public domain, unsubstantiated, non-evidenced, and let the social media mob do the rest, and wow! Lo and behold, the darling Tories, Boris Johnson and their inconvenient Covid inquiry are off the front pages for days. Oh and now, the police say "nothing criminal here," and the Sun says, "we have no plans to publish any further allegations" because our job is done here and everyone's talking about Huw Edwards and not the^ actual fucking criminals who serve in government while under suspicion of rape^ let alone any number of other things that have been happening over the last 10 years in our so called government. Wake the fuck up to the power the media has in this country.

This x a million.

And this. They likely don't want his possible suicide on their hands, so are trying to distance themselves.

They are absolute scum.

I'm just reading the outpouring of sympathy for him on various sites. I am confused! Isn't what he did the same as PS? How is it different? And yet PS was universally vilified.

Unless I'm being really dense and missing something here?

Not universally vilified! Again vilified by those led to believe the narrative and trial by social media and the sun!

people seem to forget Huw and PS are human beings…apparently this makes you immune to ill mental health!

Its different. The Sun ( I have not read any of it) have published this. Its not a fact. So then everyone goes on a witch hunt forgetting they don't actual know what has happened , if anything. Unfortunately anyone who reads The Sun and then goes on to believe it, can't have much intelligence and then spout all this stuff about something they know nothing about.

mumyes · 12/07/2023 21:43

Hmmm...
It was only yesterday his 'friends' were saying that he was 'very angry' - from that to a mental hospital in 24 hours...?

His poor wife though.

Boomboom22 · 12/07/2023 21:48

It's different because ps knew them under 18 and this seems to be adults only. And the police say no crime for certain. People take that to mean its all fine, now legally very large age gaps are of course fine and I'm sure we all felt strongly at 18 to 24 we made our choices, maybe now we look back and think eww, maybe we were more vulnerable than we realised but not illegal. Hence the support.

Well anger and aggression is a very common symptom of severe depression. That might be the case here, or it might not.

Boomboom22 · 12/07/2023 21:50

Being very angry and oscillating between rage, grief at career and reputation loss, self hate if he really is a Christian who thinks his sins have been outed everywhere even worse everyone thinks he's gay but it could be young women. I can totally see being very angry at self and the world and the future are symptoms of depression and this is a pretty big trigger even if self inflicted. I can well believe he is suicidal.

mightymam · 12/07/2023 22:01

Shocked to hear it's HE 😱😱😱 bloody hell. What an idiot. Risking everything for cheap thrills.

Forwarder · 12/07/2023 22:03

Is Mental Health Issues the new codeword for cheating on your wife and kids? Like the old chestnut, my wife doesn't understand me? But when it's Mental Health Issues, that justifies spending thousands of pounds on prostitutes.

The Met may well be right that there's nothing criminal in buying sexually explicit images from a consenting very young adult. What a sordid world we have come to accept.

If he's been carrying on in this manner for years then I'm not surprised Huw Edwards felt uncomfortable with himself. His poor wife and children. She must be having a crisis of her own. He was working right up until the story was published, so his mental health was functional enough until then.

Rich married old man buys sexual favours off a person 40 years younger and gets caught. But we should all feel sorry for the rich old man.

lljkk · 12/07/2023 22:04

Does anyone think HE's career can recover?

If career can't recover, why are people so keen to keep vilifying him (based on rumour rather than facts)?

Else, why not wait for facts to get established, before investing so much energy in your fervent desires that he stay out of public eye.

Tighginn · 12/07/2023 22:05

Down size to 1. Million pound hovel, I sure he'll get by....

Bringonthepitchforks · 12/07/2023 22:10

All those saying he's "pulling the mental health card" or words to that effect. How would your mental health hold up if you had had the 5 days HE has had?

What he's done is gross but after investigation from the police is a now a matter between him, his family and employer. I'm not defending what he's done and I would be disgusted if a 61 year old was making advances on my 18 year old but it is legal, grubby, but legal.

Apparently!!! JV is the only person who has said this!

Everything, other than his wife’s statement is still speculation!

We can all check ourselves in to a mental hospital with that amount of money. I don’t buy that.

My thoughts exactly!

AutisticLegoLover · 12/07/2023 22:41

Cheating men often have a mental health crisis when they are found out. Funny that.

RoyalImpatience · 12/07/2023 22:44

Bbc juniors coming out to say he also bullied them and sent inappropriate pics

RoyalImpatience · 12/07/2023 22:45

@Bringonthepitchforks my mental health wouldn't be good.
