@bellac11

It was not fake. I mean there are already various memes circulating that are fake but the original photo with arse out/pants down was real.

FMLWTF · 12/07/2023 19:37

an outstanding career has been sacrificed on the altar of paper sales

or an outstanding career sacrificed on the altar of sexual kicks is another way of looking at it.

The whole saga has been a despicable witch hunt brought about by the Sun who clearly
a. Want to bring down the bbc
b. Want to distract from the Boris not handing over his phone saga

he may have acted inappropriately (or perhaps the whole thing was made up) but nobody deserves to have their private lives all over the media in this way. I feel for him, I particular feel for his wife and kids.

The sun deserves to be burnt to the ground.

'Nothing inappropriate' in BBC presenter row - young person's lawyer

Claims being made by the mother at the heart of the BBC presenter row are "rubbish", a lawyer says.

How is anyone surprised.. all you had to do was look at his schedule and see he was replaced on the one show last Friday .. !! I honestly thought everyone knew by now..

BUT ... look at the bigger picture.

Whole thing stoked up by the Murdoch empire who aren't the BBCs biggest fans ..

The police have clearly stated no criminal charges or investigations..

So we are down to the court of the daily Mail , Sun and all those who wanted to keep the allegations of George Osboune off the front page..

Not to mention a government who hate the BBC because their tawdry chairman appointment and sacking was another of that charlatan Johnson's men ...

Look under the covers folks and don't believe everything the Tory press screams at you !

I don't understand these posts. Of course This story has been used by the Murdoch group as a stick to beat the BBC with. Of course it's conveniently kept GO and BJ off the front pages....it doesn't make it not true though!

You can acknowledge how repulsive it is that a rich privileged man has (yet again) been accused of sexually exploiting teenagers AND think Murdoch/The Sun are scum.

Endlesssummerof76 · 12/07/2023 19:38

Hew has actually gone into a facility.

There's no proof whatsoever of this. His wife could have fabricated everything if she chose.

AutumnCrow · 12/07/2023 19:38

This is just people's reckons now.

Inkanta · 12/07/2023 19:38

Poor wife having to speak on his behalf. I save my compassion for her. Illness is a useful way of avoiding responsibility.

Genuine question . If communications started when the kid was 17 but explicit pictures/videos didn’t start until he was an adult a few months later would that be legal? Or would the chat with a 17 year old be considered grooming.

It could be, it depends on the nature of their interactions, nature of the conversations etc.

Oblomov23 · 12/07/2023 19:39

Nope. Hadn't even considered him.

Oddsockday · 12/07/2023 19:39

I think the Jeremy Vine comments earlier were very telling.

He said Huw was angry and prepared to play the long game.
I think he genuinely thought it would all blow over and he could go back to work
It's probably just dawned on him that he has lost a lot more and the public won't shut up.
Hence crisis management and check into a mental health facility. Text Book.

Because I understand how grooming affects victims 🤷🏻‍♀️

So do you think this boys parents just made the whole thing up?

I've not read anywhere it is a male ? Is there a link?

MissPop · 12/07/2023 19:40

@Oddsockday

Of course. It’s amazing how people can’t see through that.

I think there’s homophobia attached to this.
and I’m not surprised he’s been depressed for years of he’s had to live his life hiding his sexuality.
It’s easy for people to say he should have come out, he’s lied to his wife etc but it’s rarely as black and white as that. I understand he is religious. And he had his children. His career. It’s not as easy as people seem to think it is.

if these were women of 18/19/20 would anyone care? I doubt it. It’s made into a bigger ‘scandal’ because they were likely men.

If they were girls of 17 I would very much care, no child should be sexually abused in anyway (nor should an adult). Oh and it is as black and white as that, come out, or if you don’t want to (which is fine) just be single

Translucentwaters · 12/07/2023 19:42

It is easy to check in to any private hospital on the grounds of poor mental health and stay there for the ‘foreseeable’ quite frankly it’s the easy option rather than taking responsibility.

I feel dreadfully sorry for the vulnerable teenager at the centre of this shit storm.

Because the media and public have blown up an aspect of his personal life which he wanted to remain private and left him in fear of being outed and doorstepped?

Man fucks up. Woman picks up the pieces. Man hides behind his “mental elf”.

As posters have said, he has had years or documented mental health problems.

Of course I'd bloody care

sample5 · 12/07/2023 19:45

I heard it reported on the news that other BBC employees are now coming forward with allegations against him.

SidekickSylvia · 12/07/2023 19:45

NowItsLikeSnowAtTheBeach · 12/07/2023 19:14

Maybe there are, but I image most parents would be deeply unhappy to discover a 60 year old married man with children was chatting up and asking their 17 year old teenager for suggestive, sexual images. And providing what looks like big time hush money that went on to feed a serious drug habit. And they would want such a person exposed for their behaviour.

I wonder if this is what divides opinion on this, those of us with teenagers are less likely to think his alleged behaviour can be forgiven with 'be kind, he has mental health issues'.

I have four teenagers, and the very idea that someone of Huw Edwards' clout (and age) could pay them for sexual images and be forgiven because he's depressed, makes me fucking livid.

EsmaCannonball · 12/07/2023 19:45

I can't imagine there would be many women in their late fifties and early sixties on this site who spend their time trawling OnlyFans and Grindr (well, it wouldn't be Grindr, but, you know) for men in their late teens so we could offer them money for sexual favours. Why do we continue to give men a 'boys will be boys' pass for things we would never even think of doing ourselves?

I also think bringing this upon your wife and leaving her to be the one to face the media is a cowardly thing to do. It's like being an adult and getting your mum to call in sick for you but on a national level.

The one where he has his back(side) to camera and is looking round at the camera looks very fake, his face has been planted onto a body.

Ihavent seen any others though

Prestat · 12/07/2023 19:45

typo in my previous comment - “He's had years of documented mental health problems.”

Sunshineishere1988 · 12/07/2023 19:47

So incredibly sad all round. I believe she’s named him to take the pressure off him (and other presenters) and let him get the help he clearly needs in hospital.

FMLWTF · 12/07/2023 19:48

I can’t believe people are falling for the mental health excuse. What a load of bull. Of course he’s feeling down in the dumps - wouldn’t you be if this was happening? He’s been caught out in a very public way being throughly seedy. That would dent anyone’s mood. And of course he’s feeling annoyed with himself and upset and probably regretful and definitely embarrassed. But that’s just a normal reaction to having one’s very dirty laundry aired in public. It’s not an excuse but he’s using it as one. And we’re all supposed to pipe down and be awestruck by his stunning and brave admission of depression and possibly homosexuality. He’s directing the narrative - he’s a journalist at heart.
