I'll kick it off with:-

Putting your bra on after a shower - I always put it on back to front and twist it round the right way. I need to apply WD40 to my back and chest as it just won't twist!!

Getting the damned duvet into the damned duvet cover!! Makes me 🤬 every time!!

How about you??

I have a butter bell, you put water in it to keep the butter fresh. It’s amazing I’ve bought a few for Xmas presents over the years.

Keeping baking trays clean. I just throw them away now!

Line them with baking parchment, or spray with oven cleaner.

Do you turn the douvet cover inside out and then reach inside and find the corners, then match the corners with the douvet and give it a big shake, it practically falls into place?

Our duvet is considerably wider than my arms and I could swear it fights back

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 09/07/2023 22:21

Folding a fitted sheet. My friend can do it perfectly into a tight rectangle, my version looks like a big jumble.

Going to sleep its should be like eating im hungry eat food = no longer hungry but NO! I'm tired = hours of tossing and turning followed by random remedy searches followed by sleepless nights infinite warm milk magnesium sprays butters lotions supplements a trip to the Dr's who talks about sleep hygiene (so being bored and awake) then should I EVENTUALLY manage to achieve sleep!

I wake up tired

This. Going to sleep should be easy, but I don't know how to do it. As soon as I close my eyes the thoughts start racing around and I can't switch off. DH goes to bed, closes his eyes and is asleep in a few minutes. Not fair.

@LittleMrsPretty ....thanks for the tip!!
I lay the empty duvet cover flat on the bed, fold the duvet in half.....kind of shove it up as far inside as I can then fish around inside and unfold the duvet to get the top left corner of the duvet matched with the top left corner of the cover, same with the right then move down and repeat with bottom left and right then kind of shake it a few times. It's a lot of fiddling and fishing inside the faffing thing.....I have about 60% success rate! The other 40% of the time it ends up with mis matched corners and a jumbled up mess!!! God that was long winded!!!

Try the roll method. Lay your duvet cover inside out on the bed with the open end facing you and open. Place your duvet cover on top and match the corners, corner to corner. Start from the top of the bed and begin to roll the duvet and cover down the bed making a log shape. You may need to swap between the sides of the bed the first few rolls. Then once you get to the bottom this is the hardest bit. Put your hand into the open part of the cover and grab the corner now using that corner fold the rolled up log into it and repeat on the other side so the entire thing is like a burrito. Then literally just start un rolling it back up the bed to where you started from and a perfectly positioned duvet cover that's actually got it corners in the corners. Obviously you'll need to put the bottom corners in once you've finished un rolling it

Putting thread through a needle.

You need a needle threader.

WaitingForSunnyDays · 09/07/2023 22:33

@SophisticatedWoman I was just thinking "but surely the oven cleaner is poisonous to use instead of baking parchment" when I realised what you meant 🤦‍♀️

Getting a teenager to text, phones never out of his hand but somehow he misses messages.
Slicing a loaf of bread, my slices despite many bread knives are wonky.

Re the bra after the shower problem, yes that was me too. UNTIL I discovered that if I put my knickers on, and put the bra around them instead of around my back, then the bra turns around like magic, then pull it up the right way round. The knickers are dry, your skin is not fully, and this works. Especially handy when in a hot country....

That doesn't work with a super king size duvet as my arms aren't long enough 😊

Falling asleep when you're tired. It takes me ages to

Line them with baking parchment, then you only have to throw the paper away.

RampantIvy · 09/07/2023 22:51

What is the fitted sheet folding hack @mildlydispeptic?

QwertyWitch · 09/07/2023 22:52

Peeling the plastic top off many food items where it laughably says "Peel here", yet they've stuck the whole thing down with some kind of super glue

This!!

I get in such a sweaty frustrated rage trying to open all sorts of packaging and end up stabbing it with scissors while wailing like some sort of emotionally disturbed Wolverine.

I hope whoever designs that shit has to open it up without any help over and over for eternity when they eventually get to hell.

What madness is this method 😂. Have you tried the corner way suggested?

Are you pressing too hard on the bread maybe? I'm a dab hand at bread cutting and you need to do plenty of sawing with very little pressure. The only time I push down at all is at the beginning to get through the crust. I just do that bit with a very quick motion sort of pinching just the crust with the bread holding hand.

Hold your hands up in front of you, back of the hand visible. Stick your thumbs out at right angles.
Your left hand makes an L shape; your right hand doesn’t!
