Could we PLEASE have a thread that stays up?

Meaning don't name anyone, or any programme or ask for initials or hint.

I just would like to discuss how this is likely to unfold.

The person I think you're referencing was never due to be on tonight.

Fair do’s but it’s 100% him.

TheOwlChronicles · 09/07/2023 16:58

@Whataretheodds it's fairly obvious now isn't it? There just be about oohh at least 10 comments about this news

It has nothing to do with wheel of fortune or any wheel. There are lots of correct hints on here esp pg 10 and 11 and my posts if they’re still up.

For info, it’s insider knowledge and is 100%correct. He hasn’t issued a denial because he can’t legally. Everyone who works in the media and their family and friends knows who it is.

Why would he ‘legally’ not be able to issue a denial? Surely, legally he can say what he wants. It just won’t look good for him down the line if a denial has been issued & then it comes out that it was him.

Willmafrockfit · 09/07/2023 17:03

the politicians are jumping up and down about this, just relieved it is not one of them!

No it isn't. Don't make things up.

Oh I think it is. They don't go in for litotes. Quite the reverse.

And OFC because the tabloid sector is so immersed in entertainment and trivia they think we're all equally up to date and invested.

One of my Uni friends used to sub for a red top. I could never understand why he wasted a brain but they all seem to consider it an art form.

They actually employ very good journalists. Being able to read pages of boring reports, digest it and put it into words of one syllable IS an art form.

So is using headlines to manipulate people.

safetyfreak · 09/07/2023 17:08

If its who I think it is, its shocking. He is an old man compared to the 17 year old girl who has substance misuse issues.

Vile behaviour.

Apologies, ‘shouldn’t’ Is a better word. Because it will look bad in court if he denies it. If it comes to that.

He was due on Friday though and wasn’t there

He’s been on holiday.

I really don’t think that will be an issue in court. Lol.

Fair enough that makes sense! I didn’t know if I was missing some nuance in the law. You’re right though it would definitely be an aggravating factor if a denial was issued then it made it to court - which in itself is probably reason enough to keep schtum.

Is it definitely a girl?
I've not seen anything that mentions the sex of the victim since the sun first ran the story saying it was a boy.

lieselotte · 09/07/2023 17:11

So if you get your images from Only Fans, assuming that someone is 18 or over, have you actually committed a crime? Is it strict liability?

It would be if you had sex with someone under 16. But that is a bit different from that scenario. Can you rely on the fact that people who use the platform are meant to be over 18 (forgetting for the moment that paying anyone for indecent photos is yucky).

Makes the requirement for age verification under the Online Safety Bill all the more pressing.

Reports that quoted the mother state the victim is a female.

Obviously it makes a difference to any criminal case, but I think having to admit you paid £35k for indecent images of anyone is probably career ending for someone who's made a career of being a fine upstanding citizen

Willmafrockfit · 09/07/2023 17:03

the politicians are jumping up and down about this, just relieved it is not one of them!

Ive just seen one of them on the news, desperate to look relevant and important slagging off the processes, saying the complaint was made in May and the presenter was still in post and how this wasnt acceptable and the BBC need to speed up their processes.

She has no idea what could/should have been done or not given that you can just suspend someone, you have to have evidence to warrant that.

I do find it incredible how much news time is being taken up on this.

And as other people have commented, there is little to zero talk now about the George Osbourne thing/email.

Goldfoot · 09/07/2023 17:15

Why do they only ever get caught when they're practically due to retire anyway!?

Agree. You need to be over 18 to use only fans.

but there is more to this, the bbc , as said earlier, said new allegations on Friday of a different nature, so something more is going on.

I think if you watch News at 10 tonight, there may not be an announcement but there will be a blooming big clue to who HE is.

😂😂 EXCELLENT!!!

Ok so police "contacted" and Tim Davie at pains to emphasis how fast and decisive the corporation are being.

It still doesn't account for the fact that The Sun say the mother complained to the BBC in May and they took no action.

I wonder what the truth is.
