First world problems that make you irrationally annoyed!

Just want to vent (lighthearted but kind of not). Went into the Bodyshop today to buy some new shampoo and conditioner and shower gels. First had to fight my way through about 3 people wanting me to try products, which I hate being pounced on. Then I got the shampoo and conditioner I wanted (this is a treat for me as more than I normally spend), and I had a hard sell at the checkout for various things, including upgrading to a refill bottle for shampoo and conditioner, I went for it as like to help the environment…but was in a hurry, get home to find THEY’VE BLOODY PUT SHAMPOO IN BOTH BOTTLES! I’m irrationally annoyed about this particularly given the way they pushed it on me, and the fact I went out of my way to go to the shop. What first world things have annoyed you today? 😂and would this annoy you?!

Those Flash refillable mops. Bought one for £22 and assumed (naively) that the bottle could be filled up with solution of my choosing. But nope, you have to replace the whole bottle with a new Flash bottle at £6 a pop.

Massive over-use of plastic and I get irritated by brands that jig the products so that you can only use their brand to refill/renew. Obviously that's their business model in action but it still annoys me.

Bad grammar, bad manners, rudeness, not stacking trays at the airport, not putting trolleys back at the supermarket, people sitting in seats on public transport aimed towards people who actually need them, bratty kids, entitled parents, unnecessarily large cars, littering, queuing for flights when you have a bloody seat reserved.
...I really could go on...😬

Can you not see more out of the front of your car? Sounds like you need a different car if not! 😱

Quite late with the reply, but no. If for example a small dog was in front of the car, but quite close to it I wouldn’t see it. With reversing cameras I would immediately spot it. In fact in the car park of my kids nursery where sone kids were too free roaming for my liking, I used to always reverse out at pick up as it was much safer for the kids.
I understand about physics, but the point generally isn’t how well you are turning as much as whether you can’t see that you are about to hit something outside your field of view.

The godawful radio stations they always have on in hairdressing salons.

When you're entering a supermarket at the same time as someone else, they rush to get in before you (no problem) then just stop.. in the middle of the bloody doorway to browse at some crappy promotion and you cant get past 😠 seems to happen nearly every time

Similar - when someone enters the road from a driveway or side street and doesn't accelerate once they're straight, even though there's nobody in front of them but there is traffic behind. Hello, the speed limit is 80kmh, not 50!

People that drive forwards into spaces. Much easier and safer to reverse in, drive out. (even when you need to put things in the boot.)

Easier for some. I find it much easier and quicker to drive in and reverse out. I don't have a reversing camera and reversing into the open space of the driveway is a lot less fiddly for me.

That whenever I need to use my mobile data that I pay lots of money for...it never bloody works!

curlyrebel · 10/07/2023 04:52

Oh yes and whenever I go to my local supermarket, there are never any baskets near the door. I have to walk past other aisles to get to the tills where there are usually some. Drives me crazy!

People who can't get through a film at the cinema without stuffing their gob full of noisy food. I swear they also wait until the most poignant time of the film - you know, the one with a 'meaningful silence' - to unwrap all their sweets and crunch their way through.

Ffs, a film is only 2 hours long!

JUST EAT BEFORE YOU BLOODY COME.

Whenever I find a skin product that really works and I go to reorder it there will immediately be supply chain issues! End up trawling every corner of the internet, going into random chemists all over the country. Every fucking time!

Not just skin products. Anything I find that I really like ends up caught in a supply chain issue and I have to spend forever trying to find it. I've just been through it with cat food!!!!!!

My partner's consistent lack of punctuation and his ridiculous vagueness in text messages. I often don't know if he's asking a question, making a statement, if he's referring to me or himself.... it drives me nuts. I don't have the energy to decipher the texts every single time. Then he wonders why he gets a stilted reply 🙄🙄. Might LTB!

People taking loudly on their phones on the train.

Catsmere · 10/07/2023 06:14

People with earbuds or headphones whose music is STILL so loud I can hear it.

People who drive behind your car when you are reversing out of your space, just let me out!!

People who think it's their right of way when it's not.

Covetthee · 10/07/2023 06:32

drivers in multistorey carparks. Everytime
I park in the one in our town during busier times I literally have jaw pain from stress!

  1. people drive up SLOWLY (no one on front so no reason to be going up 2 miles an hour)
  2. then they proceed to drive slowly again when on the parking level and stopping to look down each lane
  3. JUST DRIVE TO BLOODY TOP WHERE ITS MORE LIKELY TO BE EMPTY!!!

happens to me EVERY single time

happened to me on the weekend! The person in front insisted on doing this on 3 levels when they finally managed to squeeze in one spot i went up straight to the top floor and guess what it was ALLL Empty!!

Caradonna · 10/07/2023 06:43

If everyone reversed into car parking spaces in supermarkets then everyone would wheel filled trolleys between cars - NONO. These can be very heavy and difficult to manoeuvre by less fit people than me.

justanothermanicmonday1 · 10/07/2023 06:46

People who feel the need to speak on the phone very VERY loudly on public transport so everyone can hear their utterly boring conversation. Who wants to chat that much before 9am like that? I'm still trying to wake up!

ChaChaRealSmooth · 08/07/2023 00:11

when people put their hands on you to lean round you in the supermarket to pick something up.

When people stop in front of and block the very item I want on the shelf. And have a chat in front of it as well.

Catspyjamas17 · 10/07/2023 07:06

Tech randomly not working. Work VPN suddenly stops working due to an update. Printers randomly deciding not to print. Usually when you are busy and stressed.

Echo Show stops playing Spotify, or doesn't recognise a song, and Alexa doesn't seem to know how to do basic stuff like skip a song, go back one. The fact you can connect a doorbell or fridge but it doesn't have iPlayer as an app.

Web page jumping up so you click on the wrong thing. Not being able to switch on the TV even as Sky Q or wifi is broken. Having Zoom meetings perfectly all day then the school parents evening meeting app doesn't work.

It's all very well society relying more and more on tech but it has to actually fucking work.

This annoys the hell out if me as well, and I also wonder how they aren't deafened by it if 3 rows away on the train I can hear exactly what song they're listening to.

PuddlesPityParty · 10/07/2023 07:19

When people practically come to a stop when they turn left when driving - why??!

GreenwichOrTwicks · 10/07/2023 07:29

It is much quicker and more efficient (and no less ‘safe’) to drive into parking spaces and reverse out as much bigger space for the reversal.

Same! I used to wish (mercifully I haven't had to use a train since before Covid) that the deafness they're heading for would be instant and total. Sort of like instant karma. I always used earplugs when commuting and even then could hear these idiots' noise on occasion.

Depends on the corner in my case. There are some very sharp narrow turns where I live, coming off an 80kmh highway. Damn right I'm slowing down a lot for those!

Safer, ime. My only issues with it are if some bloody great 4WD has parked next to my teensy Corolla and blocked half the view (which wouldn't be any better whichever way I faced) or that one time an arsehole kept inching closer while I was already reversing out and wouldn't let me move.
