First world problems that make you irrationally annoyed!

Just want to vent (lighthearted but kind of not). Went into the Bodyshop today to buy some new shampoo and conditioner and shower gels. First had to fight my way through about 3 people wanting me to try products, which I hate being pounced on. Then I got the shampoo and conditioner I wanted (this is a treat for me as more than I normally spend), and I had a hard sell at the checkout for various things, including upgrading to a refill bottle for shampoo and conditioner, I went for it as like to help the environment…but was in a hurry, get home to find THEY’VE BLOODY PUT SHAMPOO IN BOTH BOTTLES! I’m irrationally annoyed about this particularly given the way they pushed it on me, and the fact I went out of my way to go to the shop. What first world things have annoyed you today? 😂and would this annoy you?!

Very specific one here, but big toiletry brands that firmly glue/fix the cap of the shower gel on so you can’t eke out the last bit and end up throwing the bottle away before it’s properly finished.

As a cynical profit maximisation exercise this seems to be a mainly U.K. thing, as European branded shower gels still generally have the detachable lids. Really irritates me!

Oh yes I find this v annoying as well and (even more specific)the large treseme shampoo and conditioner bottles that seem really good value but they don't seem to squeeze out properly and you can't get the lid off!! I'm pretty sure I've read other people have had issue with them as well!

Yes very annoying, it's the same with washing up bottles...I always squeeze the bottle under a running tap so it sucks some water in then swill it out!

Go back! You paid for Conditioner. I wouldn't judge you if I was the cashier, in fact I'd be more embarrassed on behalf of the shop than thinking of you as being petty or anything

When average items are out of bloody stock!! Also being plus size (thanks to steroids) I'm finding that anything that comes in a bigger size is ALWAYSSSSS out of stock! Common culprits are TU @ Sainsbury's and George @ ASDA. Each of their websites always have anything bigger than an 18 listed as out of stock. It's not that they don't come in a bigger size as those items just list up to the biggest size with no mention of bigger size. Winds. Me. Up!!!!

Child proof tops on bottles.
I understand why they have them I just can't open them no matter how hard I try.

Chaoticserenity · 09/07/2023 15:23

When I 'online shop' items in supermarket budget ranges are nearly always out of stock and the 'alternatives' they offer are stupidly priced, the alternative ketchup offered me recently was over 3 times the price of the 'own brand' I wanted.

People who look surprised when they need their ticket at the ticket barriers, then proceed to block the gate while they look for it.

When you buy a living basil plant that dies after three days.

When Ocado pack my raspberries sideways in the shopping bags instead of flat, so they're all squashed when they arrive.

Here, in the West Midlands, the buses have card readers for passes and debit cards

On the underside, with a window less than two inches square, is a barcode/QR code reader

The constant contortions of people who have to scan the passes on their phones is infuriating

Too dull, too far away, not lined up, too close, out of date - they tap at and waggle their phones in front of this stupidly designed reader, many of them still on a call via bluetooth.

How to landscape the garden of my foreign property, what with the cost of mortgages 🤣

jojojoooo · 09/07/2023 16:07

Pubs / restaurants that don't take any reservations at all. Seriously gets on my tits

We've one pub that DS loves as they've got a really good play area and nice food but it's such a pain to not know if we're gonna get a table or not. Went yesterday to be told there was a 1.5hr wait for a table. Yep, try making a hangry 5 year old wait that long for lunch 😂 and they rarely answer the bloody phone so it's not like you can just call to see how busy it is

My sense of smell has been affected by covid, so many soaps and shampoos smell awful. I found one I really liked, (radox feel uplifted) and bought a giant bottle of it, but it smells mouldy when I use it. Then I noticed on the bottle it says new recipe (or smell or something like that). NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE OLD RECIPE!!!!

I completely agree. This seems to happen on a regular basis with toiletries. Used to love Pears soap, stopped using it when the recipe changed, now the same thing has happened with Simple soap. I like Faith in Nature Jojoba shampoo but the consistency of the stuff I bought recently seems runnier and cheaper and my hair seem less soft after washing. Maybe it’s just a bad batch.

People who don't understand/refuse turn taking. We have just been to a water park where the idea is you come off the flume and hand your floatie to the people waiting in the queue. God 3 year olds twig instantly and comply. Teenagers no problem whatsoever. Grown adults........not so much. Obviously this is a minority.

Really depends on your car. I’m a short arse and it’s much safer for me to reverse out since my car has reversing cameras that also give you an angled view to the sides.

But don't you drive going forwards Grin

They understand all right - they just choose not to comply.

I had the opposite the other day - came off the train, had chosen the carriage so I would be near the exit at my home station, had ticket ready - and we had to go around the side and didn't need our tickets. If that happens on a regular basis, I am not surprised if people don't get their tickets out until they get there.

Yes. I do wonder how I am going to manage when I am old and frail!

PowerBMI · 09/07/2023 20:29

Hey I get irrationally annoyed that non of my local supermarkets do Greek olive oil.

i totally acknowledge it’s a first world issue but it annoys me. I have to drive an hour to the nearest Mediterranean supermarket to get it. Bough a big drum of it this time.

I then spend more money because there’s so many nice things 😂😂

verabarbleen · 09/07/2023 20:32

I don't drive so I don't have the other point of view but when it's sunny and a car is trying to tell me it's okay to cross over but I can't see what they are doing because I can't see them because it's so sunny!! And their windscreen is just a big glare of sun and they look angry when I finally do see them. I can't just assume your letting me go I need to see it . I need to see your face god dammit!!! 😂

Clevs · 09/07/2023 20:34

My husband People who store lid-down bottles of ketchup and mayo with the lid at the top meaning I have to shake it all down before I can use it. Surely that fact that storing it lid-up means the label is upside down and it is obvious that it's the wrong way up?

Stickybackplasticbear · 09/07/2023 20:49

Kaaardiffgalnow · 08/07/2023 11:28

Reverse into the space then - it's much safer!

So here in a busy car park, which many if not most are. If you drove past a space with the intention of reversing in, somone would be up behind you not giving you the space to reverse in. I agree it is safer bit I don't feel most other drivers have the patience for it. Even though yes I do totally understand it calls for reversing at some point in the parking. People are impatient and that driver reversing out will effect somone else nit them!

Stickybackplasticbear · 09/07/2023 20:53

People who don't know where they are going in the car and drive really slowly or badly, seemingly forgetting the have people behind them. Yes we all get lost and going slowly can help when looking out for an exit or whatever.

But I live close to the city centre and drive through the city a lot, I encounter loads of people who don't know where they are going so practically stop on roads or in the middle of junctions. It really won't make a difference to my day time wise I just find the lack of awareness alarming.

NannyGythaOgg · 09/07/2023 20:54

Toilet paper where the sheet perforations don't go all the way across so with the sheet doesn't tear - and loads unravels or it just stops.

Definitely 1st world but gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
