Unexpected guests are about to walk into your house.

How tidy/visitor ready is your house?

It was ok. Then I discovered dd has worms so I’ve stripped everything and now have everything piled in bin liners waiting to be boil washed so it’s a bit of a mess

WellPlaced · 07/07/2023 22:21

Anyone tbh
Its not perfect but you take me as you find me

Diversion · 07/07/2023 22:21

The bathroom and kitchen are clean and tidy, the lounge needs a hoover because the cat has a super shedding skill. I however am not visitor ready, it is so hot that I am wandering around in my pants and a vest top (not pretty). Thankfully at this time of night we are unlikely to receive visitors.

fizzyfood · 07/07/2023 22:28

No unflushed turd 💩 in the toilet, and no underpants on the floor, so yes, pretty much visitor ready 😂

Catsmere · 08/07/2023 05:15

As ready as it ever is. I don't do anything but get the folding chair out if there's a third person to be in the place (it's a one person unit that already has two people in it every day, there's no room for guests, plural).

wonkylegs · 08/07/2023 07:47

It's visitor ready right now but it's also a right state. Visitors welcome at anytime but they take us how they find us.
It's a nice day they can always sit outside 😀

Whattheactualwhatnow · 08/07/2023 07:52

Acceptable, but until my youngest turned 5 I it was never ever visitor ready (except when visitors were actually coming)

Ylvamoon · 08/07/2023 07:54

😁 I have 4 teenage boys sprawled all over my front room. Obviously dribbling while they sleep.

The kitchen is a bombsite from the teen feast ... I haven't checked the downstairs bathroom yet...

But coffee is ready!

Soo, dear visitor, you are very welcome for a cuppa and while you are at my house, you can help me with the tidy up.

Theoldwoman · 08/07/2023 07:56

It’s always 10 minutes from visitor ready

Emmamoo89 · 08/07/2023 08:54

It's tidyish and if had guests over wouldn't need to tidy as they wouldn't care as they're understanding.

Maybe a visitor with bad eyesight and low standards!

This is us right now. I also hate my house so am very reluctant to do much with it. I dread us getting it back on the market!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/07/2023 09:09

Decent, which is almost never the case on a Saturday, as I do most of my cleaning on Mondays, my non working day.

However, DC1 had a friend round last night whom we'd never met, and her parents dropping her and collecting her, so the place got some extra attention on Thursday evening. I don't so much mind regular visitors catching at a sub optimal time, but first timers definitely need a good first impression.

TheLurpackYears · 08/07/2023 09:17

Visitors always welcome, it's our home and I've had enough of feeling isolated. But I would check the loos for skids and pubes first if anyone said they needed a wee.

mamaduckbone · 08/07/2023 09:31

Not even remotely. There's laundry drying everywhere, the kitchen needs a clean and I'm in my PJs. As soon as I can drag my ass into gear I'm planning on doing something about this situation, as a friend is supposed to be coming round in a bit!

bluechameleon · 08/07/2023 09:50

Not. I've just cleaned the kitchen but the living room is covered in toys and hasn't been hoovered and the bathrooms need cleaning.

DuckyShincracker · 08/07/2023 12:42

Expecting visitors and it's mental as we are decorating!

Spanielsarepainless · 08/07/2023 12:59

Pretty good as I have done some decent housework this week. It probably (...definitely...) smells of wet dog though, as it rained heavily during our walk.

AnotherCountryMummy · 08/07/2023 14:00

Update: our downstairs is now ready for imminent arrival of MIL tomorrow morning.

I just need to clean the bathroom, quick vacuum upstairs and a quick tidy of my bedroom as I know she'll try and have a poke around.

Oh and pull up the weeds from the front gate. Must not forget that or I'll lose major marks on first impressions.

Ohmylovejune · 08/07/2023 14:05

We have a large double bedroom that's kept perfect. The rest of the house is tidy but hardly gleaming.

Our visitors are only ever our son, daughter and partner or my Dad so it suits our requirements.
