Unexpected guests are about to walk into your house.

How tidy/visitor ready is your house?

Have visitors for the weekend so it’s pretty good apart from the kitchen floor which is covered in sand as we went to the beach earlier and the dog brought half of it back! Once I’ve hoovered and mopped it’ll be fine.

Finiusee · 07/07/2023 16:11

My home is always visitor ready I’m too old to pretend it’s ever tidy or tidy enough. I was once told my home was homely I took it as a compliment and never looked back! If dishwasher is full there are still clean dishes available.

alwaysmovingforwards · 07/07/2023 16:11

It's never as good as it could be.
But never so bad that I'd not welcome others in.

It's our home we live in - it is what it is!

CornishTiger · 07/07/2023 16:11

It’s never ready even when they are coming.

Ive made peace with that fact for at least the next 10 years!

TheInterceptor · 07/07/2023 16:11

Ha ha ha ha ha.
I have 4 young children.

mightymam · 07/07/2023 16:12

9/10. I cannot stand a dirty/messy house.

And 9/10 only because the DC have their toys out!

ToesToYourNose · 07/07/2023 16:13

Why would I be letting an unexpected guest into my house? 😂

shams05 · 07/07/2023 16:14

Ds graduates tomorrow and the party is at mine after the event so ATM my house and freezer are guest ready.
I don't have a lot of spare bedding so although they can stay over if they'd like to they'll have to bring their own sleeping bags and stuff.
I'd love for my house to be like this always but we both work, and there's 7 of us.

NewAnon · 07/07/2023 16:15

Depends on the visitor... my sister 10/10.
Practically anyone else 5/10 - it's a mess (not dirty, surface mess from 24 hours of intense activity, and no proper tidying time).

Eyesopenwideawake · 07/07/2023 16:17

Finding somewhere to sit might be a bit of a concern...

How visitor ready is your house right now?
UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 07/07/2023 16:17

My house isn't even ready for random strangers to drive past, to be honest.

Flev · 07/07/2023 16:18

Right now pretty perfect, as we had someone stay over on Wednesday and Thursday. But as soon as my preschooler gets home that will all change...!

londonloves · 07/07/2023 16:21

Pretty good to be honest but generally we are really tidy. There is a bit of toy debris in the living room but that would take five minutes to tidy up.

ThereIsATInWater · 07/07/2023 16:23

As the grandchildren have just left....OK if you want to trip over toys in the front room, or soggy towels in the hallway from their water fight.

If not , um...

Myn · 07/07/2023 16:24

Tbh I'd only invite people I know are as clutsy new mum as me who would be more interested in me and the baby than the fact I haven't tidied last night's pots anybody else can stop on the door step, not even sorry.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 07/07/2023 16:25

I have a paper due next month so I have been doing EVERYthing in my power to do anything and everything NOT to do it so my house is spotless. I have cleaned out everything, every drawer in every room and it is minimal and perfect. I even have cleared down the sky box.

cornflower21 · 07/07/2023 16:25

Ha, ha- kids at grandmas, house is pristine, staying pristine and gonna be pristine- plus with the minimum effort.😸😸😸👏

Ceraunophile · 07/07/2023 16:26

Downstairs is ok, I’d want to check the loo before they used it and it’s a little bit dusty because it was dusted at the end of last week but it’s passable. A few toys out and dishes on the draining board etc. signs of life! Dc bedrooms are covered in toys but that’s to be expected, will be tidied at bedtime. Upstairs bathroom is in desperate need of a clean but someone popping round wouldn’t need to go up there

JustFrustrated · 07/07/2023 16:28

My house is always visitor ready.

In both senses, there is always a drink and food available no matter when you drop by.

It's always clean and tidy.

I can't stand mess or dirt. And I like to be welcoming.

Aozora13 · 07/07/2023 16:29

Depends how they feel about health and safety…

daffodilandtulip · 07/07/2023 16:31

My only unexpected guests would be my besties and they don't care.

But my cleaner comes on a Friday so the King could turn up on a Friday night or Saturday morning 👍

HappiDaze · 07/07/2023 16:33

It's alright actually apart from clean washing waiting to be sorted out and needing a hoover and dust which I'm just about to do

Untrusting · 07/07/2023 16:34

Pretty good - washing up done, sides clear.
Couple of clothes over the back of a dining chair and some shoes left out in the hall but otherwise not bad at all.

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 07/07/2023 16:35

Not at all and I do not care.

gingercat02 · 07/07/2023 16:37

Totally because the cleaner comes on Thursday and I've done a bit more this afternoon. Other days not so much but it's never embarrassing
