Unexpected guests are about to walk into your house.

How tidy/visitor ready is your house?

You've seen my house?

Tlolljs · 07/07/2023 16:37

The house is ok. But I’m sitting here in my knickers and vest.

percypal · 07/07/2023 16:38

Absolutely could not open the door

SuperSuperDry · 07/07/2023 16:39

The door is locked, I’m not answering 🤣

Kinsters · 07/07/2023 16:39

Clean and I have teabags, milk and ingredients in that I could bake a cake with plus some fruits to offer.

It's probably pretty tidy too actually as I don't think the kids played in the living room after dinner and we were out until dinner time so they wouldnt have got chance to mess it up. Not that I've been and looked! Our living room is arranged so that the sofas are in the middle of the room and the kids toys on the walls so once you're sat down you can't see too much mess. If the unexpected guests have kids I'm sure they'd be very pleased to see all the toys in any case.

bellsbuss · 07/07/2023 16:39

9/10 as the children have come home from school and dumped their bags and shoes in the hallway.

SuperGinger · 07/07/2023 16:39

Our builders just accidentally broke a kitchen window, there is dust everywhere, the place is a dump, the garden is a dump and you'd be hard pressed to find more than a few crusts of bread and fresh milk but we do have champagne in the fridge as always! Probably the same bottle that has been there since January..

TheChosenTwo · 07/07/2023 16:39

Yeah all good, come on in. It’s not a showhome, there are shoes and a school bag abandoned by the front door, I’m sure some glasses in the kitchen sink, the patio needs sweeping but it’s our home and anyone knocking would be welcomed in with a hug and a drink!

WhimHoff · 07/07/2023 16:40

Great as the cleaners were here earlier so just dumped school bags atm

Fandabedodgy · 07/07/2023 16:40

Mostly it's a mess but sitting room could be made acceptable quickly.

Lamelie · 07/07/2023 16:41

Unusually good. But only because it’s too hot to go out so I’ve been pottering for 2 days.

moonisblue · 07/07/2023 16:41

Not that I’m having any, but they can come right in! Had a couple of workmen in this week, so tidier than usual. 🤣

NoTeaNoShade · 07/07/2023 16:42

I'm ready, bring it on!

ThisIsACoolUserName · 07/07/2023 16:42

It's always immaculate. It's just DH and I and our small dog. We do little and often to keep on top if it, and are pretty minimal with our possessions.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 07/07/2023 16:43

Ha! It’s not even slightly ready for guests! I have two young children who undo any tidying DH or I achieve in 1/10 of the time it takes to tidy in the first place. We give up trying! I hate it but I don’t have the mental or physical strength to tidy all the time.

I just wouldn’t let guests in to be honest.

Zola1 · 07/07/2023 16:43

It'd be almost OK.. except my room as I've loads of washing to put away

Timeforchangeithink · 07/07/2023 16:44

Visitors visit people not houses- if they don't like how it looks they're welcome not to visit tbh.

LBOCS2 · 07/07/2023 16:45

Not as visitor ready as I'd like, given that we actually have visitors arriving in under two hours 😬

lastminutewednesday · 07/07/2023 16:46

Well it's not neat and tidy but it is clean so therefore I'm of the opinion that any visitors are coming to see us and so must like us, and they can thus take as they find Smile

Leftbutcameback · 07/07/2023 16:48

Depends how they feel about cat hair. But luckily the garden is nice as is the weather. Maybe we should just have summer visitors, and no overnight guests!

willWillSmithsmith · 07/07/2023 16:49

Right at the minute, totally unexpected-visitor ready. It wasn’t always like that but I’ve recently been watching lots of YouTube videos on how to be efficient and keep your home neat and tidy (thank you amazing Korean ladies) and I’m trying very hard to maintain that mindset. It’s not easy, I’ve just cleaned a small section of the fridge and I’ve already had to take a breather. It is really making me feel good to see my house becoming neat. Also doing the garden but that’s hard when it’s hot. The garden definitely isn’t visitor ready but I’m hoping next summer it will be.

BestServedChilled · 07/07/2023 16:49

It’s perfect imo. Nothing to eat or drink tho so iced water all round!

DRS1970 · 07/07/2023 16:50

It is ready except for additional food.

hiredandsqueak · 07/07/2023 16:50

Mine is fine for visitors and I've put clean bedding on today so even better I wouldn't need to change the beds first.

mathanxiety · 07/07/2023 16:51

It is in a state or organised chaos today as I have the day off and decided to do some deep cleaning and rearranging while I'm at it. I currently have the couch slipcovers on drying racks in the middle of the sitting room with a fan blowing at them. If anyone drops by they can roll up their sleeves and man the mop.
