Has anyone else had any stupid injuries lately?

I tried to squash a small tin of Heinz beans to put it in the recycling and my thumb split open. I didn't even cut it on the lid, it just burst open from the pressure. It took over an hour and a half before it stopped bleeding. Now it's bloody painful.

I'm thinking of suing Heinz for trauma,(Not really)

Has anyone else done anything similarly foolish?

Dropped a bottle of hand soap from the top shelf at the supermarket onto my eyebrow. Bloody hurt!

Bikingwithbabies · 05/07/2023 19:42

DS(2.5) dropped a tiny toy bus on my toe. That really fucking hurt 🤕

1400spincycle · 05/07/2023 19:54

A tennor recorder fell off a high shelf and the mouthpiece hit me between the bones in my hand. So painful and now I have a massive bruise!

I got my foot stuck in a hole, fell onto a bunch of stingy nettles and scraped my knee like a little kid.

PuttingDownRoots · 05/07/2023 20:02

I've hurt my foot. Its very painful to walk on, but easier with shoes on.

How i did it is a complete mystery. I literally woke up with it one day!

Bikingwithbabies · 05/07/2023 20:05

During the first lockdown I went over on my foot (numb from sitting on it) as I got up from the sofa. It hurt for about six weeks! Put paid to any ambitions I didn't have of doing Joe Wicks every day though😂

GrouchyKiwi · 05/07/2023 20:14

I poked myself in the lip with an interdental toothbrush end this morning (they're spikey so you can scrape plaque away) and now I have a very uncomfortable scratch on my lip.

LMNT · 05/07/2023 20:16

I kicked my weight bench full force in my bare feet breaking the nail on my pinky down to the quick.

Elemenohp · 05/07/2023 20:17

Pulled down some kitchen roll from top shelf in tescos. Three fell down, hitting me on the head and breaking my glasses. Also have a lovely scratch on my face from the broken frame.

Luckily as I'm accident prone I have spare cheapo glasses in case of something stupid like this happening. So at least I can still see

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 05/07/2023 20:21

Not really an injury but a definite case of stupidity.

I have stupidly ignored pain in my thigh/knee for the last 9 years, just putting up with it while it got steadily worse.

Finally got round to seeing someone and had my first physio treatment session today now I'm in so much pain after the woman with 83 knuckles took all her frustrations out on my poor poor leg.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 05/07/2023 20:21

I woke myself up in the night with the most excruciatingly painful trapped nerve somewhere in my shoulder. Couldn’t move all day, couldn’t drive the car, was in agony for days until it subsided. Literally did it in my own bed fast asleep. I’m a danger to myself.

QueueEtwo · 05/07/2023 20:22

I'm glad other people have these sort of accidents because I'm constantly having little accidents like this!

I currently have a plaster just above my wrist where I caught it on the corner of a hand dryer & split my arm open! 🙄

SilverstoneF1 · 05/07/2023 20:23

I was sitting on my feet, stood up and broke my toe. I heard it break and then sweet Jesus the pain. 6 weeks later it's finally healing.

DogbertMcDogglesworth · 05/07/2023 20:26

This morning. I tripped over fresh air!
I was going out of the house, put one foot outside and went flying as I brought the other foot out.
I ended up sprawled all over the lawn saying good morning to my neighbour.
Landed awkwardly on my wrist, which is aching and bruised, but not broken.

InjuryTime · 05/07/2023 20:27

I'm wincing my way through these replies. Sympathies to all of you. It's amazing how painful even the most seemingly minor of injuries can be.

Also I forgot that I tried to pull my duvet up in bed, while my dog was on it last week and accidentally punched myself in the face.

@PuttingDownRoots

Do get that checked out. i did similar last summer, hobbled around for a month - turned out it was a broken metatarsal. All I can think was quite a bit of walking one evening in sloppy trainers...

My most recent daft injury is a spectacular bruise acquired trying (and failing) to walk home after a night clubbing. I am quite old enough to know better

CalamityClam · 05/07/2023 20:44

I was sitting down at a concert last night when the lady behind me who was a bit drunk got excited and jumped up and down. As she came down, she crashed her elbow into the top of my head. Today I’ve been off work with concussion.

PollyCreo · 05/07/2023 20:45

My worst injuries are cat or gym-related. Broken rib after tripping over a cat and landing face down on a metal table - the pain was so bad I thought I'd punctured a lung.

Horrendous ripping pain in my foot in the middle of a Zumba class - turned out to be plantar fascitis and I couldn't do cardio for six months. Wouldn't mind but I only did fucking Zumba as a one off to support my friend who was teaching it 😭😂

Oh bloody hell! That's worrying. I hope that you'll be seeing the Dr again to follow up. I'm so sorry that happened to you because of some careless idiot and hope that you feel better soon.

I once slipped at the side of my dad's pool and got my leg stuck up to my thigh in the tiniest gap you've ever seen. No idea how it fit in there. Worst thing was I was stuck!! Had to sit there shouting until I got rescued!!

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 05/07/2023 20:56

Stabbed by part if a computer desk right on the inside top joint if my right hand ring finger. I'd only just started, so I'm now waiting for it to heal so I can continue.
I also have a bruise on the back of my hand, I think it may be from hitting a door frame but who the fuck knows.
I also have weeks where I'm a total klutz, so who knows what'll happe next.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 05/07/2023 21:05

Over lockdown I went to see DM and was making her a salad with chickpeas. The tin had to be either opened by a tin opener or it was a pull off lid. when I was washing it up it sliced through my finger or thumb area and wouldn’t stop bleeding hard.

DM drove me to the hospital as I couldn’t drive. In the car DM told me about how she’d had a similar incident as a child on a brownie camping trip (I’d never heard this story before) for some reason she didn’t think that this wasn’t the best time for me to hear about her getting her finger almost chopped off too and lots of blood, I was literally holding my hand and finger up in the car listening to her, blood almost coming through the towel…

At the hospital apparently it was a very hard place to stitch sue to I think he bend of the finger crease so I only got it wrapped in a bandage. Bloody hurt though and went through two towels.

WhatsTheEffingPoint · 05/07/2023 21:29

Cut my palm on a jagged bit of plastic.....after being told to watch out for it as someone had just cut themselves 🙄

I'm also a Zumba crasher....have a weak left ankle due to an old injury twice I've ended up on my arse because it gave out on me, my leg was black and blue after.

Tripped over my desk chair and crashed into the filing cabinet, end up with a massive bruise on my thigh.

I also end up with random bruises that I have no idea how I got them🤷‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

NannyGythaOgg · 05/07/2023 21:31

Half missed a step, the front of my foot went on the step but not enough to take my weight so my foot slipped off and I face planted 2 or 3 steps up. Somehow manged to graze my forehead and my nose without even marking my glasses.

Sitting in a bar, someone coming passed, there was room but it was a bit tight so (without warning) my daughter decided to move slightly and half stood up whilst hitching her chair out of the way. She then immediately sat down again, having hitched the chair onto my little toe. Sweet Jesus the pain. Hurt far more (and for longer) than the face plant and took a couple of weeks to totally recover. Poor little toe was black and blue.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 05/07/2023 21:35

I pricked my finger on a rose. It was sore but I didn't want to bother the GP with something so silly. DH and I drove to pick up the DC from university and while on the drive I noticed the redness moving down my finger into my palm, and it really, really hurt. I decided to go to A and E as it was a Sunday to get some antibiotics or be thrown out for wasting their time.

I had hand surgery to flush out the tendon sheath that evening and had to spend two days in hospital. The doctor said if the first surgery hadn't got all the infection the surgery would have to be repeated. Apparently it was a good thing that I went to A and E right then. The lady two beds down helpfully told me how her great grandmother died from pricking her finger on a rose. They are known for causing infections. So that was nice.
