What would you like to say to the chief exec of the supermarkets you use? I'll start ...

If you are going to sell spinach in plastic bags, please at least direct that they are stored in the refrigerated section rather than on the general unrefrigerated vegetable shelves along with the potatoes and onions etc.

Thank you Sainsburys.

Please have a "British Produce" section on your website so I can make that choice without having to trawl through every item I want to buy and search for country of origin.

Tbh I'd be happy if the one I worked for paid more than minimum wage and had appropriate staffing levels. Oh and contracts you can live on. 10 hours a week but being expected to be fully flex doesn't really create a motivated workforce

This, too, if your staff rely on state top ups, your business model needs reviewing. Pay staff properly.

Twillow · 04/07/2023 21:25

Sort your packaging out guys. Although reducing plastic has improved noticeably recently (maybe since we've been able to bring it all back into your stores...?) biodegradable film and cardboard trays should be non-negotiable for most prepacked produce.

Screamingabdabz · 04/07/2023 21:25

Please put your parent and child spaces slightly further away so that dickheads (usually male and young and in big swanky vehicles) don’t abuse them and leave no wider spaces for people that actually need them.

Namechangedforthis2244 · 04/07/2023 21:27

Newsflash. Girls go to school in the same weather conditions as boys, play in the same playgrounds as boys and play the same games as boys.

If boys require closed in, waterproof, warm, hard wearing shoes for school. Then so do girls.

If you absolutely feel the need to increase your clothing profits by selling very gendered items that’s your prerogative - stick a diamanté butterfly or a pink unicorn or other random thing on it. But shoes with holes in them are no use to anyone.

ShiteRider · 04/07/2023 21:27

Morrisons - check your fruit and veg isn’t rotten and if it is, take it off the shelves

takemetothespace · 04/07/2023 21:28

Dear Aldi CEO,

It's really hard for a customer to understand whether the staff is talking to a customer or to staff over their headphones

Allchangename354 · 04/07/2023 21:29

M&S your self check out is crap. From waving items madly in the air to no place to pack. I prefer self checkout but not with you.

All - there are a lot of single person households or times when others are ant smell portions - please cater to us if you are going to remove the deli/fish/butcher

don’t promise perfectly ripe anything - rock hard nectarines then suddenly mush.

govermemt - require unit price is included for all goods including clearly displayed the original and offer price. Shops won’t do it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Dinopawus · 04/07/2023 21:29

Sainsbury's. Your entrance is by the check outs and your exit by the trolleys. For the love of Arkwright, WHY?

Aldi. Is there the tiniest chance that you could sort out your self checkouts to weigh customer's bags without your insanely busy staff having to confirm them?

Tesco. Please teach your staff how to do category sales. Or just a thought, how about making sure all your products are on your system?

lurkingfromhome · 04/07/2023 21:32

M&S, for the love of god, tortilla chips do not need to be stocked in the fridge 🙄

HangingOver · 04/07/2023 21:33

Stop moving the tofu.

Oh and doors on fridges so you don't have to refrigerate the entire shop.

And keep the sodding booze in the sodding booze aisle it's a bloody nightmare for people in recovery.

ItsYourColdDayInTheSun · 04/07/2023 21:33

Please put a return trolley shelter near to the parent parking spaces, so I don't have to decide whether to put the shopping and the kids in the car and return the trolley halfway across the car park, or put the shopping in the car and take the kids with me and then carry a baby and a small toddler back to the car. And while we're at it, maybe put the double seater trollies with the normal trollies as opposed to in a special section that's miles away from said parent parking spaces and store entrance. (If they even have a two seater trolley, which seems to be getting less and less common 🙄)

HangingOver · 04/07/2023 21:34

Oh but Morrisons great job on the food bank parcels by the entrance, fantastic initiative

Sainsbobs great job on the scan as you go app, fab for budgeting.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 04/07/2023 21:34

@Dinopawus Tesco once refused to sell me a lovely coat for my DD as it was not on their system. The price was on it but wouldn’t scan. Computer said no. No coat.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 04/07/2023 21:24

Do you work? In the private sector?

If so, what's your gross profit margin? I suspect it wil be considerably more than a supermarket's.

I do work - public sector.

Jagley · 04/07/2023 21:35

nopuppiesallowed · 04/07/2023 20:27

Dear major supermarket,
Please stop selling fruit and vegetables in plastic bags. Allow us to choose our own and put them in a paper bag.
Thank you

This! Because of the plastic and wanting to choose my own, but also I want to be able to buy one of two apples etc... not a whole bag that I don't need!

Manzana · 04/07/2023 21:35

Tesco, why are loose onions now 20p each, no matter the size, rather than a price per kilo, making people choose the onions in a plastic bag as better value.

Mydpisgrumpierthanyours · 04/07/2023 21:36

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 04/07/2023 20:28

Ooooo I can answer this! I have a co worker who eats half a dozen or more hard boiled eggs daily. He is the culprit, he buys them all.

Is he Gaston?

AromanticSpices · 04/07/2023 21:36

Put the bagged fresh herbs back in bunches, so the stalks all point the same way and you can easily put them in water! They're all mixed up now!

Treedecsandtinsel · 04/07/2023 21:38

GoodChat · 04/07/2023 20:27

PUT THE HEAVY STUFF AT THE START

Yes! So much more sensible!

PonkyPonky · 04/07/2023 21:39

We need some sort of dating back on the fruit and veg. It’s ridiculous how much I’m having to throw away because it’s rotten the day after I’ve bought it. When we had dates, I never threw away fruit and veg. I bought the stuff with the longest date on and it lasted!

Dinopawus · 04/07/2023 21:40

JayAlfredPrufrock · 04/07/2023 21:34

@Dinopawus Tesco once refused to sell me a lovely coat for my DD as it was not on their system. The price was on it but wouldn’t scan. Computer said no. No coat.

Yes I had the same issue over of all things a greetings card. It sounds pathetic, but it was the end of a long work day and I still had presents to wrap and really wasn't in the mood to go to another shop.

I might have offered to show them how to put it through the tills in a different way. Suddenly they managed to find a colleague that knew how to do it. Amazing.

847arc · 04/07/2023 21:40

If you insist on having self-checkouts then make the bagging area larger than a postage stamp please, and teach it to recognise bags. Admittedly it’s improving my Jenga Tower building skills, but not doing a lot for my patience.

*Glares at Co-Op.

Rightnowstraightaway · 04/07/2023 21:42

I really agree with the pp who said put heavy things first (so annoying having to juggle soft fruit put in the trolley before the tins), and also the pp who said put (eg) rice all together instead of having to go to three different aisles to compare rices. I also avoid self-checkout.

I would like the supermarket to sell less ultra-processed food.

doodlejump1980 · 04/07/2023 20:53

Dear all supermarkets, why have you got SO much more girls clothing than boys clothing? And why are your boys clothes such boring colours when the girls clothing is every colour of the rainbow?
And whilst we’re here, why are boys clothes -predators (lions/tigers/sharks/dinosaurs) and all girls clothing is prey? (Squirrels/butterflies/bunnies etc).
also, not all boys are into gaming which seems to be the default clothing option for years 5+ clothing.
sincerely, all mothers of boys.
