Dear major UK supermarket ...

What would you like to say to the chief exec of the supermarkets you use? I'll start ...

If you are going to sell spinach in plastic bags, please at least direct that they are stored in the refrigerated section rather than on the general unrefrigerated vegetable shelves along with the potatoes and onions etc.

Thank you Sainsburys.

Stop with the profiteering - your price increases are ridiculous and unjustified. You are a main driver of inflation

Also agree with dates on fresh produce as per PP. You are now just selling me rotting food

And while i'm at it, sort your petrol prices out too

Fucking robbing piss taking bastards

Ifailed · 04/07/2023 21:05

Please keep making a decent profit so you can keep on paying my (& millions of other's) pension.

If your supermarket doesn't allow your staff to water garden plants then stop selling them.

It breaks my heart to see outdoor shelves full of dead plants.

I agree, especially Aldi.

Where are the red delicious apples? Looked everywhere for years - in all supermarkets (including the posh ones!)

I've only ever been able to get them at M&S

alpenguin · 04/07/2023 21:07

Please sell single small packets of crisps and chocolate. I don’t need 6 packs

Chickenpastabowl · 04/07/2023 21:09

Please Tesco put the cheaper options online, I can see products are available in store but I can't get to your store as I'm disabled, I rely on your delivery service (which I pay for) then I have to purchase the more expensive brands.

Also tesco sought the milk bottle seals out they've been leaking for three years it's not a delivery driver driving badly its a manufacturing issue.

Ooh no! I love coriander in a salad.

Coriander is the most vile thing I may have ever tasted, I remember my first carrot and coriander soup. Horrendous 😂

Bananasinpjamas4567 · 04/07/2023 21:11

Please stop treating your customers as presumed criminals. The giant flashing CCTV cameras as you walk in, magnetic trolley locks and scanning your receipt to leave make it feel like sole kind of dystopian detention centre, as opposed to a pleasant place to shop.

Emptychairdoasolo · 04/07/2023 21:11

Please stop changing the prices if you have a club card/ nectar card etc.

Iamblossom · 04/07/2023 21:12

I know we are all trying to use less single use plastic, but sorry, paper bags if you want any more than 2 apples are pointless.

Bluevelvetsofa · 04/07/2023 21:13

Mr Sainsbury - if you have a sign that says ‘Sausages ‘ in an aisle, please make sure that that is the aisle with the sausages in it. Or if you’ve moved things around, as you do every five minutes, please change the signs too.

If I bring to your attention, that there is rotten fruit in one of the packs, please don’t put it back on the shelf afterwards. Unfair Sainsbury’s.

M&S Food, why do you have a shelf full of dragon fruit at £3.50 per fruit? It’s a ridiculous amount of money for something that looks impossible to get into and you’re probably paying £1 per inch. To say nothing of the carbon footprint of transporting a niche item from the other side of the world.

Needmorelego · 04/07/2023 21:13

@alpenguin single bags of crisps and chocolate are usually by the kiosk with the meal deal sarnies.

SheDragonheart · 04/07/2023 21:14

MissPoldark · 04/07/2023 20:45

  1. please ensure that the price stated on the shelf is the same as that paid by the customer at the checkout
  2. when a customer brings a price discrepancy to your attention you should update it as soon as possible, not leave it another week and deceive thousands more customers in the meantime
  3. make sure the self-weigh scales are working
  4. get rid of wonky wheel trollies
  5. clean your hand baskets every now and again
  6. don’t leave rotting food on display
  7. most importantly , please reintroduce dates on fresh produce packaging, or at least include the date that the item went on display. You claim this is all about reducing food waste, but all that happens is that food waste is passed onto the customer when a fresh food item that they’ve paid full price for is mouldy/turning bad the day after they’ve bought it.

100% especially no6

Random789 · 04/07/2023 21:15

What's happened to your swedes, Tesco? They are tiny and crap and expensive. Sort it out.

Also - sprouts. Stop selling tiny amounts of tiny sprouts in plastic bags. I like my sprouts large and loose.

Twillow · 04/07/2023 21:16

Whichwhatnow · 04/07/2023 20:49

Dear Tesco,

Please stop switching all of the product locations around every few months so I have to go looking for every single thing on my list. I assume you are doing this so that instead of just quickly grabbing my usual shop I am forced to walk down aisles I never usually go down and scan every shelf because you've inexplicably moved the Ryvita away from the crisps and snack section and plonked it next to the tinned soup.

I am guessing the intention is for me to notice tempting products that I've never noticed before and be unable to resist buying them. The reality is it adds an hour onto my shop, pisses me off and means I am increasingly likely to go next door to Aldi instead.

One of the reasons they do it to is be able to stock various seasonal items - i.e BBQ meats, summer salads etc. I agree it is really annoying. Why not just have a seasonal section instead of juggling everything around>

I'd like to request smaller packs of pate. It goes off before we can eat it.

Go to Morrisons, there packs are split into two

Alighttouchonthetiller · 04/07/2023 21:20

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 04/07/2023 20:53

Waitrose - can you sell peaches that don't go unripe unripe unripe mouldy? you seem to have cracked it with avocados.

Hear, hear. Bought nectarines and peaches last Saturday. They were like baseballs until this morning when they were suddenly covered in white fur and leaking squidge everywhere.

Same here. What a waste of work, energy, money, and effort, to end up with so many dead shrivelled-up plants.

BlowMyBubbles · 04/07/2023 21:20

Aldi/Lidl stop changing your packaging randomly, and while you fuck about with the perfectly good packaging at least sell the old style while you do so. Even better make a wee sign stating you're once again fucking with the packaging so I can bulk buy safe foods.

Also Aldi, if you have something you declare is in your 'essentials line' don't take it off the bleeding shelves for Christmas crap. It's either essential and should be available all year round or its not. I don't need to be crying into an extra large camembert because you've ditched your cheese spread for the festive season.

ell32 · 04/07/2023 21:21

What happened to all the non branded stuff?

£1.35 for Pom Bears, bring back the bunny crisps!!

This one's for you Tesco!

LittleFloatingGhost · 04/07/2023 21:22

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 04/07/2023 21:06

I've only ever been able to get them at M&S

I have not seen them in my M&S at all. Will need to have a gander!

Twillow · 04/07/2023 21:22

Ok guys, just go crazy and put more pate on your crackers or .... freeze it in the individual 2g sizes you would prefer .

whynottie · 04/07/2023 21:22

Please take the bloody plastic packing off the fruit and veg, ffs!

DustyLee123 · 04/07/2023 21:23

If I want to make a charity donation I will do it myself, I don’t want you to ask me.

Do you work? In the private sector?

If so, what's your gross profit margin? I suspect it wil be considerably more than a supermarket's.
