Has anyone else not had covid?

For the whole of the period covid was rampant I wasn't ill once. Just before I had pneumonia, went away with antibiotics. Ds2 tested positive, but wasn't actually ill, the rest of us were all resolutely negative. I find it weird, surely I should have had it by now?

I wonder because I had a weird virus in 2003, didn't feel too bad, but completely lost and smell for a few weeks. Wonder if it was a similar corona virus which might have conferred some cross immunity. But who frigging knows, my mum had awful flu once, really ill, I never caught it.

Not knowingly no. Although both parents had it (in their 70s) and had no symptoms, my brother worked on a Covid ward and didn't get it and DS had it and coughed on my face for weeks so I do wonder if I'm immune or asymptomatic. I'd be curious to know.

LuluBlakey1 · 02/07/2023 20:55

I haven't, nor have our 3 DC. DH has.

Neither myself, DH or either child have ever had it. Neither have any of mine or DH parents and siblings. (All regularly testing due to jobs/ hospital appointments etc)I know quite a few people that haven't.

mum11970 · 02/07/2023 20:59

Neither of my parents have had it. One in late 70s, one early 80s with dementia. Neither shielded even though df was supposed to or made any attempt to keep to bubbles, etc. 18 yr old ds hasn't had it either. Rest of us have only had it once with mild symptoms

ZIEVAR · 02/07/2023 20:59

ALLMY GHOSTS.....No I am absolutely NOT ok. My husband and me both had it, I survived, he didn't. He was in hospital for a month, I wasn't allowed to see him, until they turned everything off. I couldn't even go to the cremation. WHAT IS THE ABSOLUTE POINT OF THIS POST? It reminds me of Boris, no there weren't any parties, while hundreds were dying. People need to get a grip. This is too recent for hundreds of people. I a really upset.

WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS THREAD? IT IS DISGUSTING. AND WHAT IS IT HOPEING TO ACHIEVE. OR ANYONE ASWERING TO IT.
THE MONITOR SHOULD BE REMOVING IT.

Ignore it if you don't like it.

Ovinnik · 02/07/2023 20:59

I've not had it, neither has OH.

Soapyspuds · 02/07/2023 21:00

Never tested positive but had a couple of bouts where I had all the symptoms at the time.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 02/07/2023 21:00

Not as far as I know, although I did have a virus type thing a couple of months ago, horrible cough and sore throat and left me tired for several weeks.

Starlightstarbright2 · 02/07/2023 21:01

Neither myself nor Ds have knowingly had it - I worked throughout but in roles where I was expected to test twice a week.

I still am in a role I am expected to test with symptoms.

I have much sympathy, but it's not my fault.

I haven't although my entire family and extended family have had it. I had a really bad flu in 2018, it was so bad it felt like I was dying and I wonder if that gave my immunity a boost. I worked throughout covid so was testing all the time and never tested positive. It's puzzling as to how I managed to evade it but would love to know.

Flopsythebunny · 02/07/2023 21:03

Neither me nor my husband have had it but have been shielding due to incurable cancer.
Not shielding so strictly now but being careful due to extremely low neutrophils.
Anyone coming into my home are testing first and keeping away if they have any type of transmittable illness.
I was living like this before covid though so it's not a problem.
Im alive and happy

come on, most people on this thread will have had it, they just aren’t aware of it! A bit of a sniffle a few months ago? Probably Covid. It’s still doing the rounds, it’s just that we’re well vaccinated against it now so it’s not such a threat.
unless you are testing every single day - and still doing so - you’ve almost certainly had Covid
as of last November, the figure was about 80% of the population, and that based on decent infection studies

When, according to you, ARE we allowed to discuss this? ever? never?

I'm so sorry. That is utterly dreadful. Flowers

If I'm reading the OP correctly, she's not denying covid. I haven't had it and I certainly don't deny it. I worked front line the whole pandemic in housing. No WFH for us! There are people who are immune to all sorts of horrible, fatal things. That's doesn't mean they aren't tragedies for other people.

@Flopsythebunny you are exactly the kind of people who are in the few % who have not had it. Sorry you’re going through such a tough diagnosis. Glad you’re ok

So if 80% have had it 20% haven’t ?? Not sure your point. Most people have commented - not knowingly

How so? I haven't had any vaccination against it, I'm not exactly a social butterfly but have used public transport constantly.

I don't get colds either. Haven't had a sore throat for years. So I'm fairly sure that no, I haven't had covid.

Then by those stats, 1 in 5 won't have had covid. Even if those numbers are conservative, 1 in 10 is still a fair chunk of the population...

ThisIsACoolUserName · 02/07/2023 21:10

DH and I have never once tested for it, so don't know

Soundofshuna · 02/07/2023 21:11

I haven’t (& have been in a weekly then fortnightly testing study, never had antibodies until vaccinated either) DH & DD have.

Sorry you list your husband, I lost a very dear Uncle and a cousin to it. They both dedicated their lives to public service and one had just retired and was about to enjoy life but I can’t see anyone being insensitive on this thread.
