What can boys do that girls can't do?

DD(11)'s homework
If you're a girl: is there something, that you would be able to do if you were a boy, that you can't do as a girl?

She has rejected my suggestions of:
look for something that is lost
multi-tasking
going to the toilet standing up (she has a shewee, and says she would be too embarrassed to write that on her homework)

What is the best answer to this question?

Have a biological child without going through pregnancy?

Tell the world that they are women when in fact they are almost always fetishising women and children.

MoirasSaggyBundles · 27/06/2023 18:31

Inheritance of most hereditary titles governed by male primogeniture rules.

StarmanBobby · 27/06/2023 18:31

Date as many people as they like without being called 'slutty'. My friend's son is on about his millionth girlfriend, age 16, but apparently the last girl he was going out with is a 'skank' for going out with other boys in their friendship group.

He of course has no come back whatsoever.

This is girl vs boy rather than woman vs man

so:
register for Eton
join most cathedral choirs on equal terms
join most football development programmes

StarmanBobby · 27/06/2023 18:32

if they're a Duke or similar in this country then girl's still can't inherit titles.

Oh some of these are good, although she won't want to put anything involving bodily functions! It specifies as a girl/boy so I guess wages and babies are out too.

@GalileoHumpkins it was a bit tongue in cheek as she's always complaining DS can't find things!

That still doesn't make sense though. If your DS can't find things that isn't something that you can do as a boy that you can't do as a girl.

Re:golf, Augusta has had female members since 2012, three years before St. Andrews followed suit in 2015.

As to the topic, I don’t like the way it’s worded either. “If you’re a girl.” Does that mean that boys don’t have to answer that one and girls have an extra question to do? Or is there a separate one for boys to answer?

Piss out of a penis

Anyonebut · 27/06/2023 18:37

Not worry about having to deal with periods.

Compete successfully against the mediocre to best boys in sports.

My first thought too.

Compete on the rings in gymnastics?
well, she wouldn't accept that as they had a gymnastics series in PE and had to do the rings!

She's 11! And it specifies girls and boys not men and women.

11 and in year 6 at primary, or year 7 secondary?

I'm not really sure what my answer would be like, but I feel there would be a difference.

look for something that is lost
multi-tasking

I don't understand your examples, are you suggesting that girls can't look for something that's lost or multi-task?

That was my question!

duc748 · 27/06/2023 18:46

Less seriously, there was something, think I was shown it at primary school. Something to do with placing a dining chair against a wall, and leaning over the chair and then picking it up again. I can't remember exactly. But it wasn't something that appeared to require any great feat of strength or anything like that, but there was a sex difference. I think I tried it out on my Mum and Dad too. Ring any bells with anyone?

Benchpress over 275kg (world record for a woman)

The men's world record is 612kg

What about a teacher sleeping with a student?

In England (not sure about the rest of the Uk) rape is defined as penetration with a penis without consent so a woman cannot commit rape. It would be sexual assault.

play with her penis.
never have to worry about child birth.
never have period pain.
never worry about any kind of cancer relating to her reproductive organs.

Champagneforeveryone · 27/06/2023 18:12

This is literally the only thing I can think of that is truly beyond the capability of a girl.

Girls can donate their eggs though, so technically would have a biological child without going through a pregnancy themselves

JenWillsiam · 27/06/2023 18:56

Drive in Saudi Arabia.

Gnoblin · 27/06/2023 18:57

I bet this is an opener for a lesson about stereotyping and equalities. Probably a very interesting lesson too!

Pee easily standing up/outside
Father a child
Rape someone (not that I'd want to, but only men/ boys can)

Yes they can rape someone

NumberTheory · 27/06/2023 19:00

Expect not to be subtly negged by secondary school homework?

What is the context of this? I think asking girls to focus on negatives like this is potentially a really poor idea. Is the idea that they are going to end up with everyone saying “There’s nothing a girl can’t do!” And so many of them (and especially the boys) will subconsciously get the message that the reason women don’t get the same outcomes as men is because they haven’t tried? There are lots of things that women will find much harder than men and because of that there are lots of things most of them will end up not being able to do that most boys will be able to do. But the wording of the question means that almost all the absolute things are sex related and so highly unlikely to be something an 11 year old will be comfortable writing on their homework, especially if they think it might be shared with the class.

And even though they won’t write all those things that they can’t do or that will end up being harder for them, they are still going to spend an evening considering all the ways they will be discriminated in in life. Is the teacher going address any of that?

JenWillsiam · 27/06/2023 19:00

Wolfpa · 27/06/2023 18:00

It’s not something I want to claim equality on but women can be rapists as well.

No they can’t.

@ChrisPPancake she is in primary school.

The boys is the opposite:
If you're a girl: is there something, that you would be able to do if you were a boy, that you can't do as a girl?
