Lana Del Ray's set cut – would they have done that to Paul McCartney?!

No! And I turn the channel to the main stage and Gun n' Roses are still playing

Paul McCartney wasn’t half an hour late.

IceCreamQueen86 · 25/06/2023 00:28

I doubt Paul McCartney would be 30mins late because his hairdo took too long!

beguilingeyes · 25/06/2023 00:34

It wasn't Glastonbury, but they cut off Bruce Springsteen at Hyde Park a few years ago because he over-ran. People should be on time.

WonderfulUsername · 25/06/2023 00:35

If she wanted to be treated like a professional, she should've acted like one and turned up for work on time.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 25/06/2023 00:35

She looked so upset, loved how she went to speak to some of the crowd

Paul McCartney was on stage with him at the time!

Allmyghosts · 25/06/2023 00:41

I haven't seen much of her before, but did anyone else think she seemed quite uncomfortable for the whole time she was on? I enjoyed what she performed, but seemed a bit off somehow.

LadyVF · 25/06/2023 00:43

GnR turned up on time.
They did a brief encore (as expected, same as all headliners, it’s factored in).

I think the one year one artist did go over (Bruce) and they did get a fine and threatened with losing their licence. Hence they now pull the plug.

You can’t be late cos of your hair FFS!

megletthesecond · 25/06/2023 00:50

Yes. There's a strict curfew. And anyway, McCartney would have been on time or very quickly tailored his set to make sure he could still fit his bangers in.
GNR had finished. Only smaller stages can carry on late.

Wobblybobb · 25/06/2023 00:53

We saw Lana del ray at a festival pre covid. It was awful, she was late on.. sung a song then proceeded to jump off stage and spend more time signing autographs and posing for photos than singing. we gave up in the end and left.

GilChesterton · 25/06/2023 00:53

Saw Springsteen this year and he was unfailingly punctual.

He probably is, ordinarily. Maybe he got carried away. ME clearly didn’t seem to mind. But now, they just pull the plug.

Fine

Glastonbury fined after Bruce Springsteen breaks festival curfew

BRUCE Springsteen cost Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis £3000 when his set breached a curfew by just nine minutes.

To answer your question....yes they would. It's a condition of the licence that the main stages finish on time as they are loud enough for those living near the site to hear...(I'm 4 miles away as the crow flies and can hear the Pyramid stage very clearly sometimes). If they hadn't have pulled her then all other artists following would have had to cut their sets short which is hugely unfair.

LadyVF · 25/06/2023 01:18

Watching the highlights now - are we sure she wasn’t knocking that outfit up backstage!?

It was a bit crap, dancers were fab though!

wwyd2021medicine · 25/06/2023 01:33

V disappointed here
DD and DH there waiting for her to come on
Ridiculous that she said it was due to her hair. As if the crowd would've cared.

OvaHere · 25/06/2023 02:43

Guns N Roses had the same thing happen to them years ago at the Reading Festival because they were late. They tried to stage a sit in.

They've clearly wised up since then. Maybe Lana will too.

Curfews at these things tend to be very strict.

Bruce Springsteen was allowed to run over over at Glastonbury. The organisers were fined.

MrsJamin · 25/06/2023 04:49

How pathetic she was late because of her hair. I'm not surprised they pulled the plug! Not into her music at all, she seems very into her look.
I was at Springsteen's Hyde Park gig with macartney, they'd already passed the curfew by 5-10 mins when the plug was pulled. Very odd end to a wonderful gig!

MrsJamin · 25/06/2023 04:50

Oh and macartney wasn't late to Hyde Park, he just played for a long time and was still having fun!

billysboy · 25/06/2023 07:04

what a sorry excuse for being late

be a professional and organise yourself it’s a crap trait

Mouse82 · 25/06/2023 07:52

As they say "time is money."

alloalloallo · 25/06/2023 08:02

Yes, if they’re late for whatever reason, their set is cut. It has to finish at the time set by the local council when granting the licence or they get fined.

I was at a festival last weekend - Sam Ryder had technical issues and came on 20 minutes late - he still had to finish at the same time

Years ago, Red Hot Chilli Peppers were late - again, their set was cut

I was there that night, and Paul McCartney was on stage with him at the time.

So, in answer to your question OP, yes they would.

SeaSaltAir · 25/06/2023 08:21

If she wants to be treated the same way as G&R or PM then she needs to start acting like them.
