I hate it, when will it cool down. Early 20s would be fine.

Where are you @KnittedCardi?
South Yorkshire will struggle to hit 20 degrees next week. We have 20 degrees forecast for tomorrow, and 24 over the weekend, then it will get cooler - 16 degrees by the end of next week.

We have had some lovely weather over the last two weeks, but nothing like as hot as last year.

Close to Wisley in Surrey, often hottest/driest part of the country. We haven't even had any rain yet, all the recent storms missed us completely. My garden looks like a desert already. Last year we didn't have rain for something like 12 weeks!

Aposterhasnoname · 23/06/2023 09:36

17 degrees here in West Yorkshire, wish it would warm up.

hexsnidgett · 23/06/2023 09:44

There's this weird thing in the UK about sunny days, sunny days are always 'good' it doesn't matter if crops and wildlife are suffering, or even if the people talking cannot sleep at night or are getting sun burn. Houses can catch fire, old ladies can die. No sunny weather is always wonderful, glorious and lovely.
It's baffling to me.

WildFlowerBees · 23/06/2023 09:50

When there's a 117 apples on the tree in the garden 3 miles away.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 23/06/2023 10:45

At my rate, it nearly always rains during Wimbledon. 🙂

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 23/06/2023 11:07

It probably depends on where you live. We are heading on holiday to Yorkshire on Saturday . Weather seems to change on Sunday afternoon with rain and cooler temperatures for the week ahead . I think this happened to us last year too.

HoistWithHisOwnPetard · 23/06/2023 11:08

its not been hot here at all yet, NW

we had some sunny days a couple of weeks ago but its raining now, I am still sleeping in socks under thick duvet

OrangesAndLemming · 23/06/2023 11:49

God knows OP but I’m absolutely dreading another summer like last year! I’m in London and next week looks better (early/mid 20s) - that’s my summer sweet spot! Anything up to 30 I can cope with and everything above that I find utterly unbearable! I’m already sleeping terribly and so is my DD so I hate to think what I would be like if we have another mega 40 degree heatwave.

Prof Brian Cox is that you? @Faz469

SirChenjins · 23/06/2023 13:43

We're cool here. I have my cardigan on and the heater on at work, and it's raining here. The heat doesn't extend to all parts of the UK sadly.

Mooserp · 23/06/2023 13:54

I'm spending my first year in Wales having previously lived in the hotter parts of the UK. Temperature is perfect here.

TwoFluffyDogsOnMyBed · 22/06/2023 23:59

Is it just younger people who’ve forgotten what summers used to be like? I’m fifty and it didn’t used to be like this. Of course it was hot for some of the time but as a child, I only remember a few nights each year when it was difficult to sleep.

How hot does it have to become before people stop with the “It’s just summer” script?

The flip of that argument would be, do you think you're just struggling to sleep because you're older? I'm early 30s and I haven't struggled to sleep. As a child I remember a couple of nights of struggling to sleep, but that was all, and it hasn't happened since. Perhaps it will again as I get older.

I have had to sort my hayfever out, and make sure that I'm hydrated, and make sensible decisions about what I'm doing... but otherwise, it's life as usual. The biggest pain in the arse is keeping adequate cream and hats on the toddler.

As for when it'll change - who knows. Some of it is just summer; some of it is El Nino; it's difficult for meteorologists to determine the overlap and how it'll impact in reality. The forecast here said there would be three days of rain and thunderstorms last weekend, and then it'd be 20 degrees for the rest of the week - the first thunderstorm didn't happen, we had one shower, and it's been 27/28 degrees all week. Next week is saying 22/24 degrees so far, but to be honest, I'm expecting more of the same.

cassiatwenty · 23/06/2023 14:09

All you people who are nice and cool, stop stealth boasting, I envy you 🥴

GloomySkies · 23/06/2023 14:11

We're going on a caravan trip next week, the pool is an outdoor one, so expect it to shit down with rain from the 30th June.

It's not a stealth boast, I can assure you - I'm pig sick of our weather! We're lucky to get a few weeks of warmish weather here and then we're straight into months of darkness, rain, damp, ice and snow.

bladebladebla1 · 23/06/2023 15:06

I hope it rains soon. My business is shit in warm weather. I'll pray for rain with you

Booklover40 · 23/06/2023 15:10

KnitMePurlMe · 22/06/2023 22:48

It’ll be like this until around the 21st July when the schools break up 🤷‍♀️. Then it’ll piss down 😄

This.

Everyone in the U.K. has this exact same conversation every year "oh, it's never been this hot before" (it has - in fact last summer was much hotter than it's been this year so far). People have very short memories. We often tend to have our summer in June/July and then the summer holidays start and so does the rain.

SirChenjins · 23/06/2023 15:11

Everyone in the U.K

You mean everyone in certain parts of England?

Pootle40 · 23/06/2023 15:11

I am loving this weather. A proper summer at last

theysaiditgetseasier · 22/06/2023 23:23

Fuck knows @cheeseisthebest but I can't wait for autumn, too hot where I live, 28 today and weekend expected 30, I'll be working as a carer in peoples homes and it's unbearably hot and sweaty in uniform, PPE and a car with no aircon 😖🥵

We must be in the SE because if you're not, this question must seem daft. It really is hot here!

In Glasgow it's definitely been much hotter for the past month than it was this time last year. Unusual to get such a long stretch of hot weather here.

Everywhere outside of London is just a small annexe of the greater England area, obviously. Plus, surely they don’t have Wi-Fi anywhere north of Bristol?

What is this Wi-Fi of which you speak?

It’s like an internet modem but without wires. It doesn’t even make the mmmmbeepbeepzzzzzzz sound!

Do you have broadband yet where you are?
