On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you?

1= miserable, nothing to be happy about

5= ok. Life could be better but I'm middling along.

10= ecstatic. Every aspect of life is wonderful and deeply fulfilling

I'd say I'm a 4. I'm coasting along but there is a sadness around living a half life.

What about you?

9

Tadashi · 16/06/2023 19:13

9 here too I'd say.

I've had sad stuff happen to me in recent years and my career could be better but I am very happy indeed.

Bookofwoe · 16/06/2023 19:14

3 on a good day.

Parent with dementia
Chronic, painful, health conditions
DP with stage 4 cancer
ASD teen who is difficult,
plus finances are going to be very difficult going forward & horrendous once things progress with DP.

This isn’t the life I thought I’d be living.

Silvergoldandglitter · 16/06/2023 19:15

I'd say 9. Don't really have anything to moan about.

WonderDays · 16/06/2023 19:16

  1. Would like to be a tiny bit more healthy.
Highdaysandholidays1 · 16/06/2023 19:20

7 I think, so pretty happy but a bit of room for improvement, I can't imagine being a 9 unless I was back in the early stage of falling in love with my husband and was completely delusional. I think I'm a low scorer.

Namechangefothis · 16/06/2023 19:21

7 i think.

This is really good for me because I have struggled with depression since having DC on 2019. This year I have definitely turned a corner finally.

Up until this year I had lots of great stuff going on but never felt happy, just empty and emotionless.

3WildOnes · 16/06/2023 19:21

8.5. I have a lovely life: fab kids, a wonderful husband, an interesting career and enough money to go on a couple of cheap holidays a year. Would be a 10 if I won the lottery.

Newusernamee · 16/06/2023 19:28

7…… I feel guilty for not being a 10 though as on paper I should be.

ladygindiva · 16/06/2023 19:30
  1. Some obstacles like separation from partner and child related stress that cause sadness here and there but pretty happy with my lot and aware of how lucky I am in many ways.
CatfoodOzymandias · 16/06/2023 19:30

Which is why I come on MN.

SunIsShininInTheSky · 16/06/2023 19:32

8, good marriage, 3 lovely kids, could just do with being further on in our careers given our level of qualifications and age, also need a bigger house. It isn't all about money bit I'd like more, even though we aren't "poor". Life is good, hectic, tiring, but good.

Findyourneutralspace · 16/06/2023 19:32

I’d say around a 6 or 7. Life is pretty tough and I spinning lots of plates, but I’m plodding on with things to be grateful for.

Weveforgottenwhoweare · 16/06/2023 19:33

I seriously doubt people are scoring 9, genuinely, and yet are on mumsnet every single day 😂

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 16/06/2023 19:36

A firm 7, all things considered.

indecisivewoman81 · 16/06/2023 19:38

5 - I'm overworked and underpaid. My marriage is stale at the moment and I really can't remember the last time I felt carefree and filled with light

Jomummy1013 · 16/06/2023 19:38

About a 5-6 most days. Hoping it improves but it hasn't done for the last few years!

elQuintoConyo · 16/06/2023 19:40

Clapped out car, no money to replace it, still rent aged 50.
But live in the Med on the beach, we're all healthy, got jobs, got a silly dog, DC breaks up for summer next Thursday until around 10 Sept.

Meh. On the whole I'd say a 9?! I'm flgrategul for what I've got. Mo money, mo problems!

RedRosie · 16/06/2023 19:46

6.5 ish I guess.
DH also has cancer (doing ok right now, but worried about the future as this is only remission).
Very aged parents miles away.
Aches and pains.
Kids fine though, and launched. House paid off.
Job fine.
Could be worse.

skippy67 · 16/06/2023 19:46

8.5 today. Ask me again in a week.

cassiatwenty · 16/06/2023 19:49

What do you imagine people who rate their life a 9 would be doing on their commute? Or when watching peppa pig or star wars for the billionth time?
