On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you?

ChittyBangabang · 16/06/2023 19:08

1= miserable, nothing to be happy about

5= ok. Life could be better but I'm middling along.

10= ecstatic. Every aspect of life is wonderful and deeply fulfilling

I'd say I'm a 4. I'm coasting along but there is a sadness around living a half life.

What about you?

I’m not unhappy, but I’m extremely stressed: several family members have health issues, and I have a few health issues of my own. I just wish there could be one week in which no one had diabetes/ADHD/depression. A reasonable workload would also be an advantage. But I’m probably about a 7 for happiness.

I seriously doubt people are scoring 9, genuinely, and yet are on mumsnet every single day 😂

Why?

Borris · 16/06/2023 19:58

9 and on MN most days. No partner. Other than that life is great. And most days im not sure I want a partner anyway.

SallyWD · 16/06/2023 19:59

8 or 9 I'd say. I'm someone who always feels this contentment, a happiness to be alive. Small things bring me a great deal of pleasure. At the moment everything is good. I have a lovely DH and 2 fantastic children. I love our house and neighbourhood. Work's fine.
I've had cancer before and I know how life can change in the blink of an eye. If everything is good then I want to cherish each moment.

3-4. On paper, I should be much higher.

I think I'm about a 6. Everything should be great internally, I have a great life. But somehow I feel I don't deserve it.

SirWalterElliot · 16/06/2023 20:06
  1. Incredibly pleased with this because I spent a large chunk of the last few years stuck between 1 and 4.
FedUpWithEverything123 · 16/06/2023 20:07

Pressed send too soon - 2 because I'm utterly miserable, feel like a total failure as a mother all the time, relationship broken down, no friends, no career, crap house, no energy, no time to keep in touch with anyone i care about, just surviving. 2 rather than 1 because I have an amazing DC. Just wish i were a better mother

BluebellBlueballs · 16/06/2023 20:08

About a 4. Been through a lot of shit this year. And last year. And the year before.

But it's not as shit as it was, it's getting better so thats a good thing.

I guess I'm about a 5. I'm not particularly happy but I'm not desperately unhappy either. I'm just a bit blank really.

Oscarpapa · 16/06/2023 20:14

1 - two kids with autism and other conditions. I wondered today about just laying down in the road or ramming my car into a wall.

TheHighQueenOfTheFarRealm · 16/06/2023 20:14

I have a range from 4-7. Currently I'm a 7.

The shit I go through in life is relentless. You couldn’t make it up.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 16/06/2023 20:17

About 6. I manage but that's it.

fireflyloo · 16/06/2023 20:17
  1. I have nothing to complain about. I have a lovely life. If prob like to look after my body a bit better but I'm hoping it will come.
midnights0 · 16/06/2023 20:20

If you would have asked me a week ago, would have been 10.
Today - 5, just had a miscarriage at 8 weeks, thought I was 12, found out at scan. Feeling numb and sad. Got a lot to look forward to (getting married this year) but feeling numb right now

Yetisrus · 16/06/2023 20:20

8 - life's pretty good, there's things I could change but nothing that is earth shatteringly bad it just takes willpower.

The weather is glorious, I have a summer of sport (the Ashes, Wimbledon), I do a job I love with great people. After a scary moment a few weeks ago with the cat both are sat enjoying the cooler evening, the one that was ill is eyeing up my gin😂.

This could all change but I'm embracing the positive vibes.

BCBird · 16/06/2023 20:25

Health issues, work issues, scared of Covid and living with bereavement of partner by suicide. It torture. Got good friends but feel generally crap

bobby81 · 16/06/2023 20:26

7 I think. Some days it's an 8 though.

shivawn · 16/06/2023 20:26

8.5 I'd say, couldn't claim to be ecstatic everyday but I really can't complain about anything.
I have an amazing husband who I love to death, a beautiful child and another one on the way, my family are all healthy, we have no money worries and I have a job I love with great colleagues.

Twinstudy · 16/06/2023 20:30

3, maybe 4 on a good day. Finally starting to realise how controlled and treated like shit I am. Need to make a change.

Discwriter · 16/06/2023 20:35

About a 4 I'd say. I'm aneamic and iron supplements worked but today I was flattened again. Mum in a different country who is in and out of hospital with cancer showing up in different places. Husband cheated last year, still reeling, still not trusting him. No relationship with sister and very few friends here. Thank god for ADs.
