How old when you had your first child?

I’m 30 and every other day I’m seeing a pregnancy or birth announcement on social media, often from people younger than me.

i’m in a relatively new relationship, both doing masters level uni courses which finish next year, both on the same page about wanting kids, don’t currently live together but have talked about it and it’s in the pipeline for within the next year. Despite this I’m still feeling the anxiety and urge to have a baby. I was with my ex until 28 and had 3 miscarriages, I’ve had all the tests to find out why and will get extra support in another pregnancy, but it’s intensified the urge and heightened the anxiety for me.

34. Never had the urge before then.

38 and then another at 40

29 and i was the first of my friends.. so i waited to have more as i wanted to wait for them and enjoy being mums together...
Bit of a mistake.. struggled to
Conceive again 6 years later & never managed to have any more... whilsst they all went on to have their firsts, then seconds, even thirds

Of my friends who I met when I had DC1, we ranged from 20 to 38. Most were 30+. (We're still good friends and I'm 40 now.)

I met my dh at 30. Had our first child at 34.

You've loads of time so best just enjoy each stage for what it is.

32 and 35

31 - two years after we got married. I had DC2 when I was 33

25 and 29. This was the ideal age for me, no regrets.

33 & 36

30 when first pregnant - born at 31. Most people I was around were 30+ some were 37/40 having their first.

30 with 1st, 31 with 2nd. Ideally I would have waited a few more years but was told I had infertility issues so thought it would take a few years to conceive. Was incredibly grateful it happened so easily for us.

Twins 2 months before I turnt 16 .

34 then 35. I don’t know many people who had kids before the age of 30.

20 yrs old.

Two months off 45. A happy accident.

This is interesting. I think I assumed the further back in time the younger mums were!

23 with my second
30 with my 3rd
And I'm currently pregnant with my 4th.. and I'm now 32

26,29,31 and glad I had them then as i have build a great career which I’ll be able to retire early at 50 and travel more. I had a lovely youth with loads of parties and travel but all on shoestring budget. When we retire we will travel in style and our kids have appreciated having younger parents

First at 38 (2 weeks off 39)
Second at 41

1st at 33
2nd at 35

23 with my first, then 25, and then 29, none of my friends were having children when I had my first two, but a few were when I had my last and more of them are having dc now in their mid-late 30's.
