How old when you had your first child?

I’m 30 and every other day I’m seeing a pregnancy or birth announcement on social media, often from people younger than me.

i’m in a relatively new relationship, both doing masters level uni courses which finish next year, both on the same page about wanting kids, don’t currently live together but have talked about it and it’s in the pipeline for within the next year. Despite this I’m still feeling the anxiety and urge to have a baby. I was with my ex until 28 and had 3 miscarriages, I’ve had all the tests to find out why and will get extra support in another pregnancy, but it’s intensified the urge and heightened the anxiety for me.

20. Second at 21. Third at 24. I'll be 40 when my youngest turns 16. Looking forward to filling my late 40s with all the things I didn't do when I was in my twenties!

28 and 30 but none of my friends have children three years on, one is trying but it isn’t on anybody else’s radar yet!

37 and 41 - so glad I didn't have them until later in life

I'm done having babies now

My friends from school are only getting married this summer basically and some of them have children

I've got the biggest family of all my peers
My set up is very ordinary at home with my husband but I had just turned 21 when I got married

It's worked for us but it's been so hard

If I could guarantee I would have been able to get pregnant with my hindsight I would have waited a few more years

I rushed it and I'm sad about that

19,29 and 32. Know lots of people my age who are just starting to have children or haven’t started yet.

29. My closest friends were 28, 29, 30, and 31. All professionals who met at school, all about ten years older than you are now, so I'd imagine those ages would be a little bit older if we were doing it now.

Pregnant at 16 and 17 when she was born. Had my last when I was 32.

27, altho we’d been trying a couple of years before I got pregnant with DC.

28 then had my second and last at 32.

But my closest friends were 30, 34, 35 & 36 having their first.

I am expecting my first in few weeks, 30 years old.

I was 36. The rest of my NCT group was +/- 2 yrs. I have a couple of friends who had kids in their late 20's but most are/were mid 30's.

I'm 37 and pregnant with my one and only.

36 and 37. Both ivf.

33, same age as my mum was with me! Had my second at 36.

40 when I had my first, 43 my second.

Not necessarily what I would have planned but life doesn’t always follow a plan and there are some things you can’t plan for. Lots of mums similar-ish age to me at school, lots younger too.

My first and only age 27. We met aged 16. I finished undergraduate university aged 23 and straight into work, he finished age 21. We were married age 25. Had my dd age 27 (only just as there’s only a few weeks between her birthday and mine so more like age 28) and I’m just finishing my masters now aged 35 distance learning whilst working. I wasn’t the first to have a child but she is one of the oldest out of my university friends.

I had my first at 28 (the age my DD1 is now), second at 32 and third at 36.

32. Feel very young though in my area. Most people I know are late 30s.
