I’m 30 and every other day I’m seeing a pregnancy or birth announcement on social media, often from people younger than me.

i’m in a relatively new relationship, both doing masters level uni courses which finish next year, both on the same page about wanting kids, don’t currently live together but have talked about it and it’s in the pipeline for within the next year. Despite this I’m still feeling the anxiety and urge to have a baby. I was with my ex until 28 and had 3 miscarriages, I’ve had all the tests to find out why and will get extra support in another pregnancy, but it’s intensified the urge and heightened the anxiety for me.

I was 24 with my first pregnancy, which resulted in a stillborn.
My rainbow baby arrived just after my 26th and our other little suprise arrived just after my 27th.

I was 19 when I was pregnant and was just going to be 20 when I had him his birthday is a few days before mine now he's turning 1 next week and I'll be 21 few days after we get to grow together love my boy with all the world🩵my mum used to scare me when I was young and pretend like having sex without contraception would get me pregnant on the first try although I'm sure that could happen it's not as simple as that me n my partner was trying for almost 2 years before I got pregnant I give you all the blessing in the world and I hope you have your miracle baby soon! Xx

If you’ve had three miscarriages in your 20s then I wouldn’t delay (I think the posters who have said take your time may have missed that). I started trying age 31 and had six miscarriages in order to have two DC. Progesterone is now in the guidelines for most pregnancies following 3 Mc: make sure that you’re seeing a consultant ob/gynae at a recurrent Mc clinic before you start TTC as you need to start the progesterone early. Plus there may well be other tests beyond what you’ve had already they’d like to run first before you ttc.

For now if it helps you feel more in control you can start focusing on a nutritious diet and starting vit d and omega 3 supplements etc (advised by my recurrent Mc doc Mr Shehata - obvs please do follow your own dr’s advice).

EmmiJay · 12/06/2023 22:29

I had my one and only nugget at 29. Would love to have one more before 45, though.

MrsRandom123 · 12/06/2023 22:29

25 & planned. I was 23 when we got married & we bought our house the year before.

  1. The majority of people I know my age either have no children or have only had one in the past year or so. I personally never wanted kids past 30. Had my second and last at 28.

AdventuresAwait · 12/06/2023 22:54

39!

fyn · 12/06/2023 22:57

@SecretKeeper1 well the start of graph was WWII so it makes sense women were older. There were less men around to marry and have children with. It steadily declines after the war.

I’ve had all the tests done through Tommys and they wrote to my GP to say I need progesterone in next pregnancy.

I’ve been keeping check on things with private fertility MOT type tests and still take good quality conception vitamins even though not currently ttc.

I think it’s just hard as although me and DP are on the same page neither of us want to rush it and it couldn’t happen before we finish our separate uni courses either (middle of next year), it’s hard because I got so close to motherhood before but in hindsight that was with wrong person and I’m glad things have turned out how they have and I met DP.

  1. Most of my school friends are just having their firsts at 35.
ConsistentlyPeeved · 13/06/2023 07:01

I was 28 with my first and then 29 with my second.
I would've been happy to have waited a few years longer to be honest.
I think early to mid thirties is now the norm for children, so at 30 you've still got bags of time.
I understand your worries however. Just know that when you do become pregnant you'll receive the best care.

Dacadactyl · 13/06/2023 08:54

I'm 38 now and was 21 and 26 when I had my kids.

Lots of my relatives and school friends recently started having kids and they're 30-40 age bracket.

Interestingly, of my uni friends, quite a few of us had kids before we were 30.

InTodaysNews · 13/06/2023 09:01

24 and 30. First one planned, the second a shock.

RenoDakota · 13/06/2023 09:07

38 with my son and 41 with my daughter.

fireflyloo · 13/06/2023 09:19

I was 27 and had ivf with my only child. I had family members who had dc at 17,19, 24 and 25. My friends had dc at 31, 34, 37 and 38.

LT2 · 13/06/2023 09:23

Pregnant at 30, had him at 31. It was announced last year that the average age of a first time mother was 31 so you definitely still have lots of time! Many having babies earlier and later. As the years go by the average age is getting older.
