There's an A380 supposed to be Heathrow to Dubai (UAE30) currently just north of Wakefield.

Thoughts?

It left London to go to Dubai but its just headed up to & landed at Glasgow - a bit odd

Except it didn't. It was always heading for Glasgow. The FR app juts didn't know it!

Was it though. If you check online - not FR - it says London to Emirates

FR now has Diverted to Glasgow in red so it doesn't sound scheduled

There’s currently a tiny single seater prop plane in the middle of the Atlantic which is heading for U.K./Europe from Maine. Had no idea they could fly so far.

Well ... they can head for the UK no problem.

feellikeanalien · 12/06/2023 19:40

When my sister was in Malaga recently I was able to keep her updated on her delayed flight by tracking the inbound one which had left the UK late. She was very impressed.😄

Well I googled the plane and it says the range is only 800miles.

London to emirates? I assume you mean Dubai. It will say that everywhere you look because the flight number EK30 is a daily LHR - DUB.

FR now has Diverted to Glasgow in red so it doesn't sound scheduled

Yes because FR has just updated due to getting new information. Until that point it used historical data based on the flight number EK30

If they had used a different flight number this would not have happened. The confusing has occurred because of the use of EK30 but this has been planned for a few hours since they were aware todays inbound A380 at Glasgow has an issue which will cause it to remain overnight

Cosycover · 12/06/2023 19:47

The a380 goes to Glasgow every day now. I might have an Alexa alarm to remind me to go look at it flying over 👀

Fascinated by this

I only use flight radar to track a particular flight eg family members

but is it used by people to just watch planes out of curiosity

is it dangerous that anyone in the world can just watch where any particular plane is

Ididntknowuntiliknew · 12/06/2023 19:51

No. If regular Joe isn't supposed to see it, it won't be on there.

We are overseas near to a large US base. Not all flights are on FR. The NATO ones were very active a few months back - and not a trace. Or when one is listed it gives no real info about where they left from and where they are going.

Iwantanapnow · 12/06/2023 19:53

Maybe I’m biased as I was born in Glasgow but I’d rather go there than Dubai any day!

I have to admit my only thought is- how have you caught this? Do you regularly watch planes on flight radar for quirky looking flight routes, or are you tracking someone on the flight? ✈️

DH was tracking the A380 into Manchester and we spotted it.

How can there be so many planes ?Amazing !

But a big empty space over Ukraine. 😥

Mia184 · 12/06/2023 20:02

I am in north Germany and we have a NATO flight maneuver here that also goes across large area of the North Sea. Quite a few flights that go over the area will be delayed or diverted.

Oakbeam · 12/06/2023 20:02

You only see the planes with their transponders turned on.

notimagain · 12/06/2023 20:03

QuintanaRoo · 12/06/2023 19:28

Looks like it’s heading for Morocco direction now.

Not sure about that particular track, but as a general point there's a lot of single engine ferry flying done across the Atlantic, though it often requires extra fuel tanks to be fitted and the aircraft usually don't go across the middle, they hop across via Greenland and Iceland...

It's usually aircraft being delivered from US makers to customers in Europe etc.

There's been a lot of A380s in & out Glaagow recently. The locals get very excited 😂😂

They fly over our house when there's the right wind - we get quite giddy at the sight of one Blush

Oh, and sorry for appearing to bugger off half way thru the thread. We had a massive electrical storm so I unplugged the router and TVs.

I think that’s hours not minutes 😬

Thank goodness for that. thought it must have been rocket fuelled! Glad I'm not the only one with a strange fascination for Flightradar, I recall in 2012 watching the plane carrying the Olympic flame circling over Cornwall for age to arrive 'on time' at its destination.

Prettypaisleyslippers · 12/06/2023 20:09

I’m flying Emirates LGW to DXB v soon, please tell me that we don’t stop off in GLA ?

JudgeJ · 12/06/2023 20:10

QuintanaRoo · 12/06/2023 19:13

2600 people tracking it live

2599 are MNers!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 12/06/2023 20:10

I am going to try to book my flights in future just so that I can get on the A380 option if there is one. Fab aircraft.

I get giddy at the sight of the Beluga airbus flying overhead. It looks far too heavy to be airborn.

MaddieElla · 12/06/2023 20:13

The one time I use FR to track my daughter's first solo trip and Manchester was decidedly static. 🤯 She's on her way now though
