There's an A380 supposed to be Heathrow to Dubai (UAE30) currently just north of Wakefield.

Thoughts?

Turning for what looks like a Glasgow approach now.

SandTigerSharkFart · 12/06/2023 19:22

@highlandspooce so it maybe not an A380 or going to Dubai at all?

Is there anyone near that can stick their head out of a window to check?😃

You’d be annoyed if you were planning to go to dubai and ended up in Glasgow

There are no pax onboard.

Might be going west of Glasgow to land into wind. Wind currently coming from the east.

I think it’s just lining up with the runway?

Yeah it's an A380.

highlandspooce · 12/06/2023 19:23

Thank you! Guessing this plane is to replace the one that was supposed to fly from Glasgow at 14.35?

Yes, that is exactly what is happening.

Yes but which direction they line up will depend on wind direction

SandTigerSharkFart · 12/06/2023 19:25

Thanks @highlandspooce I'm not very au fait with FR terminology. What does positioning and pax mean please? This thread is very enlightening, thankyou!

They are moving the plane's position from Heathrow to Glasgow. Pax is just short for passengers.

EK30 is the flight number of a daily LHR - DUB flight. They cancelled it and moved the plane up to cover the Glasgow - Dubai flight because the aircraft in Glasgow has an issue

QuintanaRoo · 12/06/2023 19:27

There’s currently a tiny single seater prop plane in the middle of the Atlantic which is heading for U.K./Europe from Maine. Had no idea they could fly so far.

Redglitter · 12/06/2023 19:27

I can actually see it

Waiting for the local FB pages to blow up 😂😂

Looks like it’s heading for Morocco direction now.

Posted too soon there

They have used the flight number EK30 for the LHR - GLA position flight and FR24 doesn't know the destination has changed as it mostly uses historical data

SandTigerSharkFart · 12/06/2023 19:28

@highlandspooce thankyou, that makes sense. Fascinating!

violetcuriosity · 12/06/2023 19:28

Genuinely curious- can someone explain what this thread is about please? Why is it a big deal that this plane is landing in London??

fedupallthisrubbish · 12/06/2023 19:30

It's landed straight down

It left London to go to Dubai but its just headed up to & landed at Glasgow - a bit odd

Flight radar incorrectly said it was going to dubai and it went to Scotland. So everyone wonders for a while why it went in the wrong direction but seems like flightradar got it wrong.

Except it didn't. It was always heading for Glasgow. The FR app juts didn't know it!

Crumbcatcher · 12/06/2023 19:31

I think Flight radar might be my new obsession, thanks OP!

OrangeFleece · 12/06/2023 19:32

Everyone will be sat on the tarmac for over a hr - I'm glad I'm not on it 😂

I have to admit my only thought is- how have you caught this? Do you regularly watch planes on flight radar for quirky looking flight routes, or are you tracking someone on the flight? ✈️

Mine too! I was glued to it the other day as dc was taking their first solo flight to the other side of the world but other than that I’d not open the app and randomly start tracking flights!!
Strange but it is fascinating seeing how many planes are in the sky at any one time.

Redglitter · 12/06/2023 19:37

There's been a lot of A380s in & out Glaagow recently. The locals get very excited 😂😂
