We had to wear masks at work, or have perspex screens or be 2m apart - if we were even allowed in the office.

No going to different rooms. No crossing on corridors. No lunches together.

What was your workplace like @Clavinova How did you mitigate the risks?

cakeorwine · 12/06/2023 21:25

I don't think he had any fucking idea about how other workplaces were dealing with the pandemic and the steps they were taking to be safe.

And then he lied about the guidance being followed.

No fucking idea.

DuncinToffee · 12/06/2023 21:26

I find the fact that NHS staff had to rely on food donations in order to get something to eat more of a safety risk than them posing for photos in small groups.

I was taking about the pictures from the link before.
As to why those pictures don't show - well that's for them to talk about.

They are from April 1st though - so early pandemic days.
I guess you didn't notice that.

cakeorwine · 12/06/2023 21:34

But well done for trying to attack NHS workers.

Downing Street should have followed a risk assessment - and it's clear that it must have been a crap one, given wine Fridays.

DuncinToffee · 12/06/2023 21:36

It just speaks volumes about @Clavinova who is so desparate to distract from Johnson's lies that they pull up pictures from 1st April 2020.

I guess they are now searching for more links.

Yes - I did notice the photos were from April 2020.

Anyway - looks like action was taken

Downing Street bans infamous ‘wine time Fridays’ | Evening Standard

The infamous Downing Street “wine time Fridays” have have been banned after Sue Gray’s partygate report revealed government staff “drank excessively” at the events.

Staff in the No10 press office helped themselves to bottles of wine in their office on the last day of the week.
The “WTF” gatherings took place before and during the pandemic.
One lockdown gathering in the office led to red wine being spilled on a wall and over copier paper, while another saw someone be sick and a fight broke out.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said the events had “in effect” now been banned “because alcohol consumption for staff is not permitted” any more on the estate outside of formal events, such as those held for visiting dignitaries.

Mr Johnson was only fined for attending one gathering, his birthday party in the cabinet room in June 2020, but Ms Gray criticised the culture and leadership in No10 over which he presided. The senior civil servant’s report found that a large number of people attended events and breached Covid guidelines and staff felt unable to raise concerns about the behaviour.

I don't need to search for links - a hospital I sometimes use made the news (Oct 2020);

And that's why there we were rules to follow, risk assessments that needed to be followed - and no need for wine Fridays in Downing Street.

I can't believe no one thought they were wrong - or that they would get away with it.

And he hasn't.

His legacy is that he is a liar.

Were those people responsible for writing covid legislation and messaging it out to the general population? No they weren't.

cakeorwine · 12/06/2023 21:49

Didn't Johnson even watch the news or read the papers?

He could see how people were trying to behave. He could see the shaming of people in the media. He could see how hard it was for people.

Did he just not know what was happening in Downing Street?

I know it's a big place but had he no idea?

DuncinToffee · 12/06/2023 21:52

What is the whatboutery about? Other people broke the rules so that makes it ok for Downing Street to do so too?

Just another rehash from 'eveeryone broke the rules'?

What was the outcome of that investigation?

Pretty boozy in Gordon Brown's day, although not Gordon Brown himself;

Well that's irrelevant.

I wonder what the report will say tomorrow?
How bad do you think it will be?

DuncinToffee · 12/06/2023 21:58

I wonder what the report will say tomorrow?

It's postponed to Wednesday

The Privileges Committee will not publish its report into whether Boris Johnson misled the Commons until Wednesday

Members met today to finalise their report but issues with printing hard copies mean that they need an extra day before it is ready to be published

"Whether" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there Grin

What a bunch of twits. Poor old shop workers and lorry drivers had none of this.

cakeorwine · 12/06/2023 22:04

It's quite amusing to see Johnson and Sunak rowing over the peerages.

Tory party civil war

Well that's irrelevant

I wouldn't say so - you posted a link to Boris Johnson's 'wine time Fridays' - the drinking culture clearly pre-dates Johnson (despite what Alastair Campbell claims) and there's no suggestion in Sue Gray's report that Johnson himself drank excessively (she doesn't say he drank alcohol at the gathering on his birthday for example). Keir Starmer was clearly drinking in Durham.

So Wednesday for the report that shows that Johnson lied to Parliament.

Looking forward to the views of a Tory majority commitee
