What are you ‘I’m old’ references that younger folk might not understand ?
I’ll start: ‘too orangey for crows, it’s just for me and my dog’

Pepsi challenge.

The yo-yos from Coca-Cola, 7up, Fanta, if you got a golden ring pull you could get a gold yo-yo

Pretty sure both the above used to do shopping centre roadshows with loads of prizes etc.

I had the sprite one.

At the first stroke it will be 5.24 precisely.

Snaps still only 7p! (The dragon)

Is that the time sponsored by Accurist?

Fuck my boots, this is a blast from the past. I'd like to thank OP for restoring some of my increasingly shattered memory.

Button moon. Bagpuss. Accrington Stanley. JR Hartley. Kiora.

Anyone remember those really weird vodka cinema adverts where the vodka bottle would really distort whatever was going on normally? Very inventive, if REALLY WEIRD. Like something from David Cronenburg.

Oh and Auntie Beryl, down the Dog and Duck...

Yes! I remember those vodka ads and I'd totally forgotten them until now!
What a weird way to advertise alcohol, basically saying everything looks better with a drink in ya 🫠

I liked the weird Metz ads though, with the Judderman!

theblackradiator · 06/06/2023 23:25

Re-record not fade away
Scotch video tapes skeleton 💀

LorraineInSpain · 06/06/2023 23:27

Who remembers the water puzzles?
They were usually tall with buttons to press to get the ball or whatever into the bit you needed it to go into. I hope someone knows what I'm on about cos I loved those as a kid!

Yes! I loved those!

Dont know if they’re still going or whether they found a vintage one, but a friend’s child was playing with one recently - wouldn’t let me have a go, though!

Video nasties. Our local video shop had signs up saying "Do not ask for these videos, we do not have them" and a selection of the most asked for off this list:

I loved my water puzzle. I've been tempted to buy one recently. I've been resisting the urge but perhaps I'll give in.

theblackradiator · 06/06/2023 23:31

A bit none PC so i apologise but we once saw a man on tv with an incredibly high forehead and i said to teen dd that he looked like he'd just come off a tefal advert she didn't have a clue what I was talking about.

BreakfastClubs · 06/06/2023 23:31

How lovely that your friend's child was enjoying it, though I'd have totally wanted a go of it too haha!
Thank you for understanding what I meant too with my awkward description!

Does anyone at all remember a cartoon whose closing theme included lines something like 'Run with us, we have everything you need, run with us, we are free'?

The Moomins
Dramarama
Yes to Willo the Wisp!
Mr Benn
Chockablock, with the presenters who came in on a mini-digger and a computer (enormous yellow thing) called ?Chocky?
How We Used to Live (watched a few episodes on Youtube quite recently and it's very well done)
The creepy title sequence to Near and Far

This is Chockagirl checking out

Dammit I always wanted to be Chockagirl

Loved Chocablock!

The cartoon with the ‘Run with us’ theme tune was the Racoons.
