What are you ‘I’m old’ references that younger folk might not understand ?
I’ll start: ‘too orangey for crows, it’s just for me and my dog’

I remember crisps just called tubes do you mean them? didn't John mcinroe tennis player advertise them. You cannot be serious

FannyFifer · 06/06/2023 23:07

Pepsi challenge.

The yo-yos from Coca-Cola, 7up, Fanta, if you got a golden ring pull you could get a gold yo-yo

Pretty sure both the above used to do shopping centre roadshows with loads of prizes etc.

Only because I lasted about five minutes before deciding 'this is fucking shit, they're doing a pretend live broadcast thing like we all did in our school plays for the last ten years' and changing channel, only to find later that people were claiming in Talking Bollocks from a script Heads shows that it was absolutely terrifying and everybody believed it was real.

popcornfrenzy · 06/06/2023 23:09

@theblackradiator defo hoops and tubes in a bag. Made by Smiths and we're really odd

Chewits. Chewier then barrow in furnace bus station!

Snowy snowy I can see the pub from here!

Inkypot · 06/06/2023 23:13

Who remembers the water puzzles?
They were usually tall with buttons to press to get the ball or whatever into the bit you needed it to go into. I hope someone knows what I'm on about cos I loved those as a kid!
Also sand pictures, we had a ridiculous amount of those in our house with my mum telling us, "it's really quite something cos it's a new picture every time you flip it over" She was right really. Wish they'd make a comeback.

Inkypot · 06/06/2023 23:15

@NeverDropYourMooncup I was completely convinced by Ghostwatch and totally fell for it 🤣
Watched it with the lights out that Halloween on a tiny black and white telly!

TIme for a sharp exit, time for a cool sharp harp.

Omg, for years I had no idea what the guy was saying!

Presumably it was before I could read (or recognise a harp) but it was just a mouse to me - time for a cool shaa baa Blush

Needhelp101 · 06/06/2023 23:17

Fuck my boots, this is a blast from the past. I'd like to thank OP for restoring some of my increasingly shattered memory.

Button moon. Bagpuss. Accrington Stanley. JR Hartley. Kiora.

Anyone remember those really weird vodka cinema adverts where the vodka bottle would really distort whatever was going on normally? Very inventive, if REALLY WEIRD. Like something from David Cronenburg.

Oh and Auntie Beryl, down the Dog and Duck...
