What are you ‘I’m old’ references that younger folk might not understand ?
I’ll start: ‘too orangey for crows, it’s just for me and my dog’

"That's not a knife. That's a knife!"

I say this every time I pick up a knife. So much so that my son says it not too whenever we're out for dinner!

The Trebor Softmints ad with Mr Soooooooft

Also we used to sing ‘Trebor mints are a minty bit stronger, stick them up your bum and they last a bit longer’.

Australians couldn’t give a Castlemine XXXX for anything else … (it’s only now I’m writing this that it dawned on me what the ‘four x’ thing actually meant!)

I forgot the Castemaine XXXX but instantly read it in the accent!

@Neverknowinglysensible we had a PCSO visit at a community event and he had a bag full of them.

stringbean · 06/06/2023 20:37

'Texan - sure is a mighty chew'. (They were horrible as I recall).

'Choc ice and chips? Don't tell your mother'. (Can remember the tagline but have lost all memory of what this advert was actually advertising!).

Anyone remember Pocketeers? Was desperate for the fruit machine one and was given it for Christmas in about 1975.

This is a box, a musical box
Wound up and ready to play
But this box can hide a secret inside
Can you guess what is in it today?

Not a phrase but was in a group of under 30s -
mentioned the film Big with Tom
Hanks and no had a clue what I was on about.. I feel like that film was on repeat on TV during my childhood! Felt v v old..

Yep along with Flight of the Navigator.

Watched Big a few years ago with my own kids and suddenly realised it's kinda uncomfortable. A grown woman getting together with a child... nope nope nope

We were talking about chocolate bars at work last week. I said I used to love a spira, only 1 person remembered them.

I googled an image of it to show the whipper snappers who acted as though I'd shown them a picture of a chocolate bar from Ancient Rome 🤣👵🏻

I'm 43!

I remember the Spira well!
