What are you ‘I’m old’ references that younger folk might not understand ?
I’ll start: ‘too orangey for crows, it’s just for me and my dog’

Scholastic book fairs anyone? I loved looking through those little catalogues almost as I enjoyed reading my chosen book.

SweetChilliGirl · 06/06/2023 20:00

I literally quoted this to my D.C. today who is in the middle of their GCSE exams. They just looked at me like Hmm

I saw this recently I can't remember where I think it was a ch5 countdown programme or something Maureen lipman wasn't even old enough to have a grandson with an ology 😅

AutisticLegoLover · 06/06/2023 20:05

Ooooh I could crush a grape!

Inkypot · 06/06/2023 20:08

@Washyourfaceinmysink well thanks for that 😂 Now I'm going "we're having a ball!" Haha! You've unlocked a memory of me and my friends walking round the playground, arms linked, singing that at the top of our lungs and randomly getting more and more kids to join in!

AutisticLegoLover · 06/06/2023 20:08

@theblackradiator Prudential I think.

I want to be a TREE!

"Yo ladies! Look at Raoul, bouncing up and down..."

The Raoul adverts were hilarious! Yo ladies!

AutisticLegoLover · 06/06/2023 20:11

I have the chicken soup on 7" vinyl. It was awesome and utterly inappropriate of course. The B side was worse and very racist.

AutisticLegoLover · 06/06/2023 20:11

Song not soup

Bordey · 06/06/2023 20:12

Accrington Stanley? Who are they?

Stepping stones, stepping stones
One and two and three
When you cross the stepping stones
They'll bring you to me.

Everyone's a fruit and nutcase!
We're just making it up as we go along, you know..

Fingerbobs, fingerbobs

Mum, we'd rather have starved!

When I looked after DSD for the first time, she needed entertaining and i hadn't been around small children for about 15 years at that point.

I had the idea of making finger puppets.

An hour later, she had five Scampi wriggling on her fingers and one perfect Fingermouse. I hadn't seen either for over 40 years, but they were absolutely perfect.

When I took her to meet her Dad, she insisted upon wearing them and as we sat on the bus, all the Xers recognised them.

AliasGrape · 06/06/2023 20:27

The Trebor Softmints ad with Mr Soooooooft

Also we used to sing ‘Trebor mints are a minty bit stronger, stick them up your bum and they last a bit longer’.

Australians couldn’t give a Castlemine XXXX for anything else … (it’s only now I’m writing this that it dawned on me what the ‘four x’ thing actually meant!)

minou123 · 06/06/2023 20:29
