We had a small two bed flat in London, four floors up and with no lift, only the stairs. We were owner occupiers and it was in negative equity at the time.

We rented it out and moved when DD1 was a year old. With help from my parents we managed to buy a three bed house out of London, which was far more suitable. We continued renting the London flat out for seven years, by which time it was well out of negative equity and in good profit. The sitting tenant bought it off us and we were enabled to buy the four bedroom house we currently still live in.

All three of our DDs have grown up here, though two have virtually left home now and the other might be considering it. We'll downsize in the next few years, I think.

An absolutely massive one as we were living abroad. Twice the size of our current one!

400sq ft two-bed when I had DD in 2019. Rooms so small we had to take the bedroom door off its hinges to fit a bed and crib in the room. High chair went in the hallway off the kitchen. Now in a five-bed with two children, miles easier technically but can still feel squished as it’s a fixer upper so constantly one room out of use being renovated and another out of use full of displaced stuff, and building tools everywhere!

3 bed semi

WaitingfortheTardis · 04/06/2023 14:55

We were in a 4bed newbuild semi, we've since moved to a 3 bed detached which is almost the same size but has a bigger garden and needs a lot more work! Our first home was a teeny 2 bed (barely) flat but we wanted to wait until we had more space before having a baby. We met very young though so were quite fortunate to have that option.

Rolloisthebestpony · 04/06/2023 14:56

1 bed rented flat 2010. Was purchasing first home and moved into small 3 bed house when DC was a moth old.

3 bed semi

lakesummer · 04/06/2023 14:59

Although it was a 3 bedroom the third bedroom was tiny so dc shared 2nd bedroom and third bedroom was a guest bedroom as it could only fit a bed.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 04/06/2023 15:02

2 bed mid terrace, typical modern 2 up (well 3 if including bathroom) 2 down, good size garden, 1 parking space.

Ds was born 2019, we bought the house in 2015, moved into a 3 bed detached last year, expecting number 2.

3 bed house; but we moved into it at 36 weeks pregnant. 1 bed flat before that. 2020.

Exactly the same for us, except it was 2019.

Deadringer · 04/06/2023 15:09

New build 3 bed semi detached, a stones throw from both sets of grandparents.
