I’m absolutely freezing this evening and just put the heating on. Anyone else cold?

You're kidding! We're on our 6th day of sunbathing weather in Liverpool 😀

Same here in the West of Scotland 😃

Me too!

Why wouldn't it occur to you to put the heating on if you are cold? We have our warm clothes on here...but it's freezing. We have heating, so we put it on. We also have money to pay for the heating, so we put it on.

I'm not really interested in winning the MN Most Cold And Miserable But Morally Superior Award, so the heating is on. I'm also drinking wine, which is also far too much like having a good time for some folk, but there we are.

But I’m not cold, that’s my point. I own clothes that suit the country I live in and dress appropriately for the weather. I just don’t feel the need to have the heating on in the summer. I don’t know where you are but I highly doubt it’s actually “freezing”.

Oh well, each to their own. Enjoy your wine. 🍷

Oh shush. I had an aunt like you.
She kept the house like a frigging morgue and everyone hated visiting her.
It's 6' tonight here on the north sea coast.

I have relatives who are the opposite. Houses like saunas all year round. Suffocating. I had to open the windows when I stayed with my in laws at Christmas (in Scotland). 😂 It’s all just personal preference I suppose.

cornishstarfishy · 02/06/2023 09:56

My part of Cornwall is pretty chilly today! Brrrr it's like a change in season from sweltering yesterday!

(I prefer it slightly cooler!)

polkadotdalmation · 02/06/2023 10:03

Mine has come in automatically past 2 days. Waiting now to see if it come on today as it looks a little warmer

Room102 · 02/06/2023 20:53

It's warm in the daytime but still pretty cold at night. Mine kicks in automatically whenever the house temp falls too low and I don't think there has been a day this year yet when it hasn't been on. Just for less of the day than usual. It being the evening doesn't suddenly make cold temperatures comfortable.

That's pretty patronising. I'm an adult who is also capable of dressing themselves appropriately for the weather, but in the evenings where I live it has been cold enough to have the heating on. I'm sure you are capable of understanding this but are choosing not to. Have a lovely evening.

Bexx87 · 02/06/2023 21:16

God, I've slept with the fan on the last couple of nights.

Mimilamore · 02/06/2023 21:18

Absolutely frozen, just got into bed as couldn't sit in the cold any longer. Chill North wind, lots of cloud, North Kent coast 🥶

Brightredtulips · 02/06/2023 22:36

I've just had a cool bath as very stupidly I have sunburn down the back of my legs. In Scotland and its hot!

AutisticLegoLover · 02/06/2023 22:56

Maybe my heating system is old but mine is switched to off once it warms up around April. There's no option for it to turn itself on. It's off at the boiler.
That wind was really chilly the last few days but today has been glorious on the edge of the Peak District. 20-22 is my ideal outside temperature.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 02/06/2023 23:11

It's been about 13 degrees here. Honestly, I am not one of these nesh, indoor folk - I live in the countryside and spend my days out in the fields walking dogs and rassling with ponies. I have a great many items of warm clothing. It is properly chilly during the day and down to 4 or 5 degrees outside at night.

Tarkan · 02/06/2023 23:42

I enjoyed sitting out in the garden until after 10pm tonight. (East coast of Scotland). Ignore the fact I know I need to repaint the table this year but first photo was 8.45pm and second at 10.10pm just before I came inside because it was a little too chilly to sit out once the sun had gone.

Now I'm inside I still have the windows all open and the living room is still 20°.

I’ve caved and put the heating on.

Mine came on automatically yesterday & today.

Furries · 03/06/2023 03:25

East Anglia here. Am fed up now of the weather!

Yes, we’ve had a fair few bright sunny days, not a cold in the sky. But the wind! And, even if no wind, the temps seem realty low.

Am still wearing my Parker most days. Still in jumper and jeans. Have not had one day where I Co spider breaking out a T-shirt and flip flops. Haven’t sat out in the garden one evening yet. Have had heated throw on most evenings, so at least haven’t put heating on.

It’s now less than 3 weeks until the longest day and I’m not happy!

I try to be restrained, but if this continues much longer then I’m not going to have much patience when the “cosy” autumn brigade start emerging. I just want to feel warm for a few days!

Didn’t mean to cause offence or patronise. Sorry. Always a shame to see how quickly people resort to insults on mumsnet, rather than accepting differing perspectives.

It’s interesting how different people’s ideas of what constitutes “cold” are. Someone upthread was saying they would put the heating on if it’s 13c. It was around that earlier in the week and I was cycling to work in shorts and a t shirt. I live in one of the cooler areas of the country and it has been nowhere near cold enough to consider having the heating on. But this thread has clearly shown that many people prefer higher temperatures to me and, apparently, I like to keep my house like a morgue. As I said before, each to their own. Stay cosy.

Imagine bot being able to comprehend that just because where you are isn't cold, nowhere else can be.

Your reading comprehension skills need some work if that’s what you took from my comment. 🤦‍♀️

Bloody hell. I live in a top floor flat so it's really warm. Roasting in my flat, I have to have the windows open constantly at the moment. It's about 18 degrees here in Derbyshire.

Everyone below you probably has the heating on.
Lucky you.

Eastern Scotland was freezing Wednesday and Thursday. I had my heating on at home and at work. Better yesterday and today is glorious.

SinnerBoy · 03/06/2023 16:00

I put ours on for a little while, on Wednesday and Thursday nights. It was 7° near the coast, Newcastle. I've got the back door and an attic window open just now.

Applesinmyhouse · 03/06/2023 20:07

Today is the first day I haven’t been cold. Went out in just a dress, albeit one with long sleeves, and was warm in the sun. I’ve lost a lot of weight recently very quickly ( I’ve been/am very ill) and I’m always cold! It was such a relief to feel the sun on my face. 21ish here and that horrible biting wind has died down.

QueefQueen80s · 03/06/2023 20:27

Actually had my hairdryer on to warm the bed last night in Yorkshire
