@HotSince82 @OvaHere Ahh thanks for clearing that up.

@NeedToThinkOfOne. No. This is a man who had immense power over a teenager and started having sex with him. Everyone who covered this up to protect their lifestyle and the cash cow - family, colleagues, friends - they are all culpable.

All of them.

And there have been people saying they didn't believe it in on countless earlier threads.

Safeguarding children is everyone's responsibility. The minute you turn a blind eye to inappropriate relationships and the G word which we're not allowed to say, you're an accessory.

This just this.😡I'm so angry, did these people learn nothing after Savill.

And that’s why she’s suddenly developed a conscience.

Ruth has a son, I can't imagine Timothy and Phillip were on Holidays with Ruth and Eammon's son.

JenniferBooth · 26/05/2023 19:38

Can we take a moment to remember the three women interviewed by him who were victims of Jimmy Savile and his attitude when he interviewed them "why come forward now" etc. Im wondering how they feel about all this.

I just think in media circles less this type of thing is an accepted norm.
Up until the point that the public gets a whiff of it, then its damage limitation 101 a la Willoughby et al.

There are no lessons to learn from a covertly accepted practice, well apart from 'keep your powder dry, or be damned'

Jackienory · 26/05/2023 19:40

Seriously, who cares ?.

RhinoMoveFast · 26/05/2023 19:40

Lesson learned are to abuse and cover up better.

Will the burglar still be on This morning too?

Riverlee · 26/05/2023 19:25

Just realised the runner is only a few years younger than my eldest son. No way would I be happy with a close relationship with someone old enough to be his father.

Had this happened in the seventies, you could argue ‘different times’ - doesn’t make it right but life was viewed Differently then. However, since early twenties, viewpoints have been very different.

That's a mad post.

It takes the runner being close to your son's age for you to realise it's inappropriate behaviour?!

And no, it wouldn't have been different in the 70s or any more acceptable - it would have been viewed as negatively then, if revealed & not hidden away, as unfortunately much is.

IhearyouClemFandango · 26/05/2023 19:40

They met when the boy was 12, very dodge

Theyreallydidaskthat · 26/05/2023 19:41

That's another one! I don't think they should be plastering photographs of his family all over the article. It should only focus on him.

AutumnCrow · 26/05/2023 19:41

EsmaCannonball · 26/05/2023 19:08

'It's not illegal' is a low bar to set. If you've mentored someone from childhood, used your fame to wangle them a job on your television shows and then had a sexual relationship with them it is grooming, exploitation and an abuse of power. ITV and all the shows Schofield has worked on have questions to answer, too. Their employment practices shouldn't allow current employees to get jobs for teenagers they know and then use that favour to gain influence over said teenager for sexual gain.

That is a very good explanation of why I feel so nauseated about this ongoing practice in the culture of TV and film.

Male politicians do it with 'interns' as well.

Jackienory · 26/05/2023 19:40

Perhaps his many colleagues at ITV whose careers he has placed in jeopardy for a start.

HotSince82 · 26/05/2023 19:44

There you go then Jen, point proven.

They are all in cahoots and cover each other's tracks.

GuitarsUnderTheStars · 26/05/2023 19:44

Now the actual truth about Ant and Dec and all the rest of them at ITV in front and behind the camera please. And watch this space re Hollys marriage ‘breaking up amicably’. So much bullshit.

QuintanaRoo · 26/05/2023 19:45

JeandeServiette · 26/05/2023 19:11

What is the evidentiary level needed for a criminal charge of grooming? There is a criminal offence of grooming now isn't there? I wonder how close this comes.

I’d guess without a statement from the other party it wouldn’t happen. If however he chooses to make any sort of statement different story.

If what PS is saying is true he has put himself in a stupid position because the other party could say anything now and would likely be believed. Certainly by the public and probably in a court.

MissPoldark · 26/05/2023 19:43

Phillip, Holly and This morning were pushing Butterfly and Mermaids, they normalised gender identity, lies and permanent pre pubescent bodies, I care about that, why don't you?

I'm sorry but I very much hope you're taking the proverbial....

You can't seriously believe anybody within ITC was in any conceivable way NAIVE TO THIS?

I mentioned my sons age to put it into context (for myself) - I thought they were a lot closer in age. I knew PS knew MM from when he was a teen, but i hadn’t realised the age gap was so big until the timeline posted above.

I always knew this friendship was a bit dodgy.

OrangeSpicedBun · 26/05/2023 19:36

It's not the people who didn't know who deserve to be the targets of ire. Because post-Savile, the idea that "everyone could know" that someone was a sleaze (or worse) and it remain hidden (protected?) was thought to something that just should and could never happen again.

So the ones I'm cross with are all those who knew, but did not act in ways that brought the person to account

EsmaCannonball · 26/05/2023 19:47

IIRC, when this story was first bubbling around on social media, there was at least one photo of Schofield visiting the youth theatre group and the young runner, then aged around 10 or 11, was one of a group of children in the picture. It's possible the boy could have been a bit older as he is one of those people who looks much younger than their age. In video footage as an adult the runner also seems to be quite young in personality, too.

Schofield did him a lot of favours. Arranging for behind-the-scenes days at ITV, appearing in his showreel, taking him out to dinner.

There was also that time that Schofield provided a character reference for a young man on trial for blackmail and revenge porn. Wonder what motivated that?

openstop · 26/05/2023 19:47

Bye bye slimey scofield

QuintanaRoo · 26/05/2023 19:50

Has his agent dumped him?

dayswithaY · 26/05/2023 19:50

Interestingly, the comments under the DM article seem to be overwhelmingly “leave him alone”, “he’s so brave” and “it’s not a crime”.

Who are these people?
