MM are the initials of the runner, the young man who worked for PS.

Yes sorry, I wasn’t concentrating for a moment 😀

Startyabastard · 26/05/2023 19:51

Is the 'affair' he is refering to the relationship he had with the runner boy.
I hate Philip Schofield if only for saying that child sex abuse couldn't have occurred in the BBC corridors.
I hate him of course for grooming that child but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Marginally more creepy than other male stars with their very much younger lovers. Such as David Bowie and John Peel, Mick Jagger (yes, yes I know different times). Stephen Fry, Jeff Goldblum, Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Leonardo di Caprio. And all the teachers on the current thread about teachers and their pupils. Hopefully they'll all get the raised eyebrow at least from now on.

David Tennant?

HotSince82 · 26/05/2023 19:52

As an aside...just you wait til Sir Cliff dies 🤣

This is the media. Honestly, Schofilth is probably being paid handsomely to be the fall guy and will be able to slink off in to comfortable obscurity whilst his skanky replacements grace your screens for years to come.

We get what we deserve. Usually

And these people are our 'entertainers'

Has his agent dumped him?

Yeah, here you go apple.news/AaNwBXIVEQ5CqTi8vEKtVLw

Porkandbeans1 · 26/05/2023 19:53

Funny how he doesn't mention how old MM was when they met. I'm pleased this is all coming out. It's disgusting he's been allowed to carry on working there for so long. Those who turned a blind eye should now be sacked too.

NerrSnerr · 26/05/2023 19:53

ODFOx · 26/05/2023 18:47

He had an affair with another consenting adult. FGS the 'mystery' and conjecture has made it far worse than it ever was.
If he'd come clean about the affair when he came out it would be water under the bridge by now.

He met the 'consenting adult' when he was 12, then got him a job and then slept with him. This is not ok- this stinks of grooming.

MissPoldark · 26/05/2023 19:54

ITV’s much bigger than Holly and This Morning you know!
and no, people who work on other programmes or in other areas mist probably wouldn’t have any idea of his antics but that does mean they’re unaffected by the reputational damage.

Freefall212 · 26/05/2023 19:54

QueefQueen80s · 26/05/2023 19:24

The age difference is grim. Bet he thought he was making up for lost time as he came out late.

The affair with the showrunner was all before he came out. He came out when that affair ended...many thought he came out because the show runner might tell his story to the press. Philip had been gay and in gay relationships for many, many years. His coming out in 2021 was to the general public but not to friends and family and industry insiders - they had known for decades. It wasn't even really a secret.

Letsallthinkofaname · 26/05/2023 19:55

Why didn't any of the people who knew shout louder about this?

Polkadotties · 26/05/2023 19:56

I cannot believe there are people on this thread minimising his behaviour! Take a look at yourselves!

Ah you sweet naice wee thing. The story hasn't even begun. It'll be out soon enough

Letsallthinkofaname · 26/05/2023 19:57

People who are minimising don't realise that people get ahead of stories in the hope of deflecting. If he's admitted this there is bigger stuff he's hiding.

Don't be silly.

They work on a separate show, not a separate planet.

I work in sales, if we had a quasi paedo in finance it would be office gossip.
That's the comparison. They are on the same payroll, go to the same events and gossip within the same circle.

10% of people within ITV had absolutely no idea of this. At most. And I'm being ridiculously magnanimous with that estimate.

If we all knew three years ago, there obviously was a lot of confirmatory leaking going on. It's hard to find outright whistleblowers in an industry of freelancers, though.

Redshoeblueshoe · 26/05/2023 19:58

A week or so ago some papers were saying that Martin Frizzell would have to go as well. I think that's why ITV said PS had resigned. Trying to protect the people still there.
Get rid of all of them.

That's a good point. The leaks had to have come from somewhere

Theyreallydidaskthat · 26/05/2023 19:51

David Tennant?

I'm not sure why he's on the list, even though he is 14 years older than Georgia his wife. But she was well into her 20s when they met, which is rather different to still being in primary school!

(Or have I missed yet another "everyone knows" issue?)

RhinoMoveFast · 26/05/2023 19:59

Letsallthinkofaname · 26/05/2023 19:55

Why didn't any of the people who knew shout louder about this?

My guess is that they were silenced in the same way those who are Gender critical have been, sacked, intimidated, called 'bigot', 'phobe' and sent to Coventry by the cool crew who spent time with him.

LindorDoubleChoc · 26/05/2023 19:59

What I find slightly difficult in all this is a feeling that homophobia makes it worse in public perception than other inappropriate relationships between older men and young colleagues. And also PS's actual age. What if he'd been 40 and the young colleague had been 20? Is that worse or the same?

I think it's pretty much the same of course, and if he were heterosexual and the groomed person had been female, it wouldn't be quite such the scandal, unfortunately.

Humphrey Bogart was mid 40s, Lauren Bacall 19. Charles was 30ish and Diana 19. Hell, my MIL was 16 when she got married, FIL 21!

It all gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Shitsandwiches · 26/05/2023 20:00

Considering he's another paedo who started out on Kids TV, there may very well be a lot of stories coming out unfortunately.

HotSince82 · 26/05/2023 20:00

Letsallthinkofaname · 26/05/2023 19:55

Why didn't any of the people who knew shout louder about this?

Because it's an accepted norm
Because he is a big star and hold Influence and people have bills to pay, mouths to feed, reputations to protect and careers to progress within.

Because self interest trumps morals for most of humanity.

Stephen Fry's husband was 27 when they met, considerably younger than him but certainly well into adulthood.

Interestingly, the comments under the DM article seem to be overwhelmingly “leave him alone”, “he’s so brave” and “it’s not a crime”.

Who are these people?

Never ever read daily mail comments.. I don't know who they are but they are always depressing.
