Had this happened in the seventies, you could argue ‘different times’ - doesn’t make it right but life was viewed Differently then. However, since early twenties, viewpoints have been very different.

It’s a non story because it’s been talked about all over social media for years now. This isn’t a sudden shocking revelation.

And let’s not pretend that the Daily Mail and its ilk are paragons of virtue and morality. They’re not. It’s worth remembering that one of the most prolific sex offenders was a publicist for the majority of the tabloids, who knew about it and merrily covered it up until they couldn’t any more.

I think Holly will lay low for a few years then re-emerge slowly in some niche corner of social media before coming back onto mainstream TV.

He didn't really come out late though. He was in what is termed a 'glass closet' pretty much everyone in show business knew he was gay for a long time. Joan Collins told us all that!

For whatever reasons he just had some sort of deal whereby the media wouldn't mention it and played along with his straight family man TV persona.
