Plain idiocy cannot be negotiated with, either. Virtually every country around the World imports goods from China, none more so than the US. Why don't they go and protest there? Or, as I have already asked, why don't they protest in China itself?

I don’t think we can say yet. Historically, it’s nonviolent direct action more than anything else that won rights for ordinary people, such as getting women the vote. And it’s getting us all talking and considering, which is no bad thing.

Hmmmm I can see both sides here. The whole point of their actions is to cause controversy and spark debate & reaction by bringing their cause into the spotlight and thus, public awareness. If they protested peacefully it wouldn’t have the same effect. Here we all are now, talking about climate change & whatever side you’re on (I personally like the hose lady’s spirit) they’ve succeeded in their goal.

They’re annoying and controversial but that’s their spec. The other side of the argument is that their methods are having the reverse effect and turning people away from what they represent. They targeted the CDS because typically, it attracts a worldwide audience and gains a lot of powerful publicity. It is also the haunt of the middle classes who will presumably talk about it more than them say, trashing a chippy in Staines
