Interesting, isn't it, that professed animal right activists turn out not to care that much about the welfare of actual animals? trying to spook horses with rape alarms, taking lambs away from the ewe and causing all the animals a great deal of distress...almost as if they haven't thought this through.

Fancy being so threatened by some else's opinion and the information we came across in life that you want to stop people viewing something available to all in iplayer, why does it scare you if people watch it?

What was it?

Barbadossunset · 26/05/2023 12:08

Did they manage to raise Satan or doesn't it work without a pentangle?

😂😂😂😂

Barbadossunset · 26/05/2023 12:10

taking lambs away from the ewe and causing all the animals a great deal of distress

This. Who on earth in the movement thought that act of cruelty would further their cause?

CheeseTouch · 25/05/2023 17:58

What are you personally doing to address the climate and biodiversity crisis? At least these activists are doing something.

I don’t think they are “doing” anything productive. We are all aware of climate change and there is a settled consensus that climate change is real and should be tackled.

So bringing attention to the cause is redundant.

Doing the hard yards of research and development for new technologies, intelligent and thoughtful policy, etc. is what is needed. Not public tantrums.

In fact, the gardeners at the flower show are doing something by planting flowers and vegetables, creating homes for wildlife, learning about environmentally friendly pest control, etc. They are being constructive rather than destructive like the protestors.

I saw a pic of the three dimwits responsible for that stunt. Cuddling the lambs like they are some overgrown woolly dogs and grinning as if they've done something clever.

There are quite a few who support that, they had a conference in Boston recently. It is becoming quite a thing in the USA and the Satanic Target designer is British.

Yes, it is the opposite of animal and earth worship, showing garden destruction and animal cruelty.

The dimwits must have chased the sheep into a corner and picked up random lambs. They were behaving like dogs who are worrying sheep. They had ropes round their necks like dog leads and could have choked. Farmers might put halters on older sheep to show them but never this. The lambs were extremely healthy and God knows what they're like now. I can understand a bit if the sheep were ill, malnourished or in a bad environment. However it's the job of bodies like the RSPCA, the Govt or Red Tractor to deal with this and stop the farmer maltreating livestock.

Barbadossunset · 26/05/2023 13:00

Maybe the idiots who stole the lambs will be had up for animal cruelty?

All the scientists who study this are pretty despairing and are hoping beyond hope for global human cooperation - but I don't see it - we are just too myopic, selfish and preoccupied with the issues in front of our noses to change much of what is already baked in. All power to the protestors elbows though if only the rest of the world would wake up and take note. Most of human existence has been barbaric anyway, this civilized window was just a brief moment in time before the natural order of chaos returns.

The Guardian today.

Global heating will drive billions of people out of the “climate niche” in which humanity has flourished for millennia, a study has estimated, exposing them to unprecedented temperatures and extreme weather.
The world is on track for 2.7C of heating with current action plans and this would mean 2 billion people experiencing average annual temperatures above 29C by 2030, a level at which very few communities have lived in the past.

Global heating will push billions outside ‘human climate niche’

World is on track for 2.7C and ‘phenomenal’ human suffering, scientists warn

RedToothBrush · 26/05/2023 15:55

Why did they not just shoot themselves in the foot?

People at the flower show are MORE likely to environmentalists than average. So they've just thrown a tantrum at people who are trying to increase greenery and environmental diversity because it's good for us and the planet.

Why?

What the fuck is the point in doing this?

CaptainMyCaptain · 26/05/2023 16:10

They are only ever preaching to the converted really. Was there ever anyone who didn't believe in climate change who had their mind changed by JSO or ExR?

There is no point but they're not the brightest, as they keep proving.

Charles went organic before the man on GB news who stole lambs from their mothers, was born.

They are picking on the wrong country, the wrong people with the wrong tactics, they are a very bizarre group of people.

What, exactly? Apart from making a nuisance of themselves? Nothing constructive from what I can see.

Answer the question. I’ve given plenty of information and answers. Now you tell us all.

What are YOU doing to tackle the climate crisis?

CheeseTouch · 26/05/2023 19:42

Whilst talking the good talk on sustainability, Chelsea Flower Show are wrapped up in oil and gas investment. Hypocrites.

Plants shipped in from abroad, concrete laid to be broken up after three weeks, pesticides, peat…

And THAT garden was sponsored by Brewin Dolphin, a wealth management fund managing $50bn of assets and the largest financier of the fossil fuel industry in 2022, providing $41bn.

Sit with your anger and think about the real issues here.

JaneJeffer · 26/05/2023 19:43

I'd love to see a proper environmental audit of the show. Including supply chains. And all journeys to the site (deliveries, workers, visitors)

Well I'm sure you could go and research that if it floats your boat.

And yet the protestors are the same, using all the modern tech ect.

Seems they are all in the same boat

Well I'm sure you could go and research that if it floats your boat.

I'm not qualified for that kind of research. You need one of the proper, experienced bodies who can go about it to standard, and get access to the event and all its supply chains.

Expecting an unqualified individual to do it shows either ignorance of what is needed, or just dismissiveness to the importance of good quality audits.

AnarchoTyrannosaurus · 27/05/2023 08:27

Oh sorry, I didn't realise that you lacked the basic skills to go and find out if this information is already available, which of course to a large degree it will be.
