They need bloody locking up. They seem to spend all their time ruining things for others.

Who had “lock them up”?

Please collect your bingo winnings at the end of the thread.

I don't think they 'ruined' anyone's day did they?

Good for them. I think their stunts are funny and they are quite brave for doing it. I have no interest in the CFS and I rather like things that incense Telegraph readers.

I don’t think we can say yet. Historically, it’s nonviolent direct action more than anything else that won rights for ordinary people, such as getting women the vote. And it’s getting us all talking and considering, which is no bad thing.

It's getting the vast majority of people saying what utterly obnoxious, brain-dead morons they are. Which is no bad thing, either.

DozyDelia · 25/05/2023 19:47

it’s nonviolent direct action

They have caused criminal damage and obstructed the highway.

Both are offences.

They are actually violating people's right to go to work, go to hospital, get an ambulance. (People forget the woman who had a serious stroke and was unable to get to hospital in time, or a fatal car crash that occurred as a result of road closures over the Dartford crossing.)

Imagine getting this angry about people trying to raise awareness of climate change by spilling some paint on the floor.

Plain idiocy cannot be negotiated with, either. Virtually every country around the World imports goods from China, none more so than the US. Why don't they go and protest there? Or, as I have already asked, why don't they protest in China itself?

Nature is blind to who is acting where, and whose fault it all is!

Prescottdanni123 · 25/05/2023 19:49

@CheeseTouch

So the people gluing themselves to roads and slowing down ambulances??? And vandalising the Chelsea flower show. That could have caused people emotional hurt. So they may not be using direct violence but their actions are still causing people harm.

And I am saying this as someone who actually works for an environmental charity.

oh dear.

Funny to cause damage to something.

Funny to prevent people getting to cancer treatment appts.

Funny to hold up ambulances.

That's funny is it?

@Damnspot You either don't know what they have done or you have a very odd set of moral values.

Because they'd probably get 'disappeared'

Aren't we lucky to live in such a tolerant country?

You're either being deliberately obtuse or your lack of awareness is off the scale. Is "spilling some paint on the floor" all they've done?

Posh over privileged scum that they are

It’s nonviolent direct action. Look up the definition if you like. It doesn’t include hurt feelings 😂

They were arrested for causing criminal damage.

If you can't understand that, what does it say about you?

That was someone's livelihood that they had invested time and money in.

But maybe that's too hard to grasp.

MeinKraft · 25/05/2023 19:52

It's a shame for the person who created the garden, so much work goes into designing those gardens and putting them together and he'll have no hope of a prize now.

I'm not surprised they had some people clapping and agreeing with them - people who are into horticulture are often environmentalists for obvious reasons.

I think JSO need to start thinking about the destructive element of their protests and whether they are really necessary. They can pull other stunts and they'll still get headlines.

Damnspot · 25/05/2023 19:52

I recommend blood pressure medication to some people on this thread.

I wouldn't dare post what I recommend for some posters.

Clearly, you are unaware of the harm their protests have done. People have probably died because of their stunts. (Missed medical appts, no ambulances, etc etc.)

More's the pity in this case.

jay55 · 25/05/2023 19:55

The garden was targeted as it was sponsored by Brewin Dolphin and they like to target financial companies for not doing enough for the environment or whatever.
Still feels like another activity that puts peoples backs up rather than gain people for the cause.

Yeah, but @Damnspot thinks they're funny, so there's that. 🙄

Prescottdanni123 · 25/05/2023 19:59

@CheeseTouch

You keep repeating non violent direct action as if that makes it OK. They were still causing emotional harm to someone who put time and energy into making that garden. The people gluing themselves to roads aren't being directly violent but they are slowing down ambulances transporting very sick people. Violence isn't the only way to harm someone.
