About 2 days ago I discovered that Skegness isn’t in Scotland 😳 How did I never know this before? Embarrassingly, I’m 38 😂

I thought Carlisle was in Scotland until recently.

Admittedly, I grew up abroad and have never been there. I generally have a far better knowledge of UK geography than my English DH though.

There is a tiny Dunkirk in Kent.

I'd heard about this big music festival in Woodstock, I thought it was the Woodstock near Oxford.

It only occurred to me the other day that Billy Bragg and Billy Idol are not the same person. I always just thought New England was Billy on a more chilled day.

For some reason I always used to think that Chequers was in France, only realised recently it’s here.

There’s another Dunkirk north of Bath, in Gloucestershire I think.

Until recently I thought Bognor Regis and Skegness were similar places very close to each other somewhere along the North East coast between Newcastle and Scotland. Neither of them are anywhere near there!!!!

When I was younger I thought Somerset was called Summer Set and that it was either one of the Balearic or Canary islands.

On a different note I recently found out that if you drive more than one car and always forget which side the fuel tank is in the car you're in- there is actually a little arrow on the fuel indicator symbol showing which side it's on I can't believe I'd never noticed it!

Mull of Kintyre. I always heard mullek entire. I thought Mullek was a Scottish word and you either did it entirely or partially. It's a whole weird thing but there you go 🤷‍♀️

I thought Glamorgan was in Scotland for quite a while and that Andover was in Belgium. It was only when I asked my mum whether Glamorgan were the only Scottish cricket team that I found out. After she stopped laughing.

Like PP, I too thought Country Durham was in N Ireland, I thought it was the same place as County Down! I also thought Walsall and Warsaw were the same place. I thought Helvellyn (Lake District mountain) was in Wales too!
