What is something you do/eat/drink that you know is bad for you but can't stop?

Mine is Coke Zero. I just fucking love it. Only one a day, rarely 2. I have tried to quite by not having any in the house but then I just end up at the corner shop and paying even more for it!

Alcohol! I’ve cut down to once a week (if that) but I would love to be one of those disciplined glowy people who are teetotal.

honeyfox · 24/05/2023 14:40

@orangeclubsarebest try Ferrograd C if you can get it. I had low iron and was eating 2 trays of ice a night and I stopped wanting ice a few weeks into the tablets. Not soon enough to avoid a crown on a cracked tooth though 😔

Diet coke is probably my vice.

PiriPiriChicken · 24/05/2023 14:45

I don't know if this counts but I have a secret packet of cigarettes in the garage. I keep them out there with a shower cap, an enormous cardigan and some rubber gloves. I "quit" smoking when I was TTC my first child (almost 12 years ago now) but... for example, when my builders found a leak last week, I had to go and tidy the garage after bedtime.

Chypre · 24/05/2023 14:46

Ooooh where do I start... I have found my way around the usual cheese-nut-sweets suspects, I religiously follow the "serving size" guidance - I literally whip out my tiny scales and measure out 25gr of crisps. But then there is coffee. Black, no milk no sugar, but by the bucketload.... Can't stop.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 24/05/2023 14:49

Pepsi Max. I think they put crack in it, as diet coke doesn't hit the same.

Brilliant 🤣🤣🤣

See, this used to be me too. Smoking in the shed in a big coat so that DH/DDs wouldn't smell it.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I switched to vaping and now can't stand cigarettes which is good. But vaping is more dangerous in a way as there's no smell left on you so it's easier and I therefore vape more than I used to smoke! It's ridiculous and makes me feel like a teenager.

I’m loving reading these, it’s nice to know I’m not alone!!

although @Dedodee slightly concerned! That sounds painful!!!

I’d say it was Diet Coke but then I got acid reflux so that’s finished now 😞

I have a hiatus hernia and GERD but I just power through!! 😂

Salad Cream. By the spoonful, loads of spoonfuls, occasionally a full bottle . at a time
I've worried about this many times. I don't know anyone else who eats it like it was yoghurt.
But still do it.
3 to 5 bottles per week.

@MrMucker no offence but 😷

Energy drinks

Edwardandtubbs · 24/05/2023 14:58

Kids sweets - especially Tangfastics. I don't really like biscuits or cake though so that's how I justify it! The problem is that once the packet is open I cannot stop, even if I want to. It's like I have to eat them all at once. DH finds it embarrassing that if we go to the theatre/cinema that's my treat of choice!

Dedodee · 24/05/2023 14:58

@MrMucker is it Heinz though?

Hippychickster · 24/05/2023 15:12

Wine and Co op Salt and Vinegar or Ready Salted crisps.
Diet Coke.

I've limited wine to the weekend, but I love it and when the sun is out, I immediately want a glass. The crisps go perfectly with it.

Sparkletastic · 24/05/2023 15:18

Peridot1 · 24/05/2023 13:32

Wine. Occasionally manage to cut back. But not often .

Same. It brings me joy.

SayyestoJRM · 24/05/2023 15:20

Chocolate or ice cream at bedtime.

GeraltsBathtub · 24/05/2023 15:23

Sabra hummus extra and Jordan’s country crisp (the one with nuts). Both only bought occasionally as I can easily demolish a 350g tub of the hummus in one go or eat three big bowls of the cereal in a row 😳

midsomermurderess · 24/05/2023 15:31

Pain au raisin. I kinda wish my local Sainsbury’s didn’t sell them, but of course, self control etc.

FrenchandSaunders · 24/05/2023 15:32

Red wine in the winter
White wine in the summer
GnT on a summery evening
Need to stop in the week and keep it a weekend treat.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 24/05/2023 15:35

That Biscotti spread that comes in a jar. I have no idea why I even like it, I'm not THAT big on the biscuits themselves, but the spread stuff is worse than crack. I now refuse ever to buy it, because if I get a jar in thinking I might make a cheesecake or something for the weekend, I find myself at three in the morning in the kitchen in the dark eating it off a spoon.

justcantgetenough · 24/05/2023 15:47

Haribo Balla bites sweets, the mixed ones, not too fussed on the strawberry ones. Only seen them in Poundland or B&M and I'm addicted.

Brought 4 bags the other day, to last me a while! one bag left had a bag a day.

Also a sucker for Pringles especially salt & vinegar or Smokey Bacon, luckily too expensive at minute so can resist. Also kettle crisps, especially the blue bag, again too expensive at £2.50 a bag, just to be always on offer at a £1.00.

PurpleChrayne · 24/05/2023 15:47

Those "family size" Aero bars. One a day at least. I'm breastfeeding, so I need the extra calories 😋

QueenOfDuisburg · 24/05/2023 15:48

Cheese. I have to limit the amount I buy as if I know it's in the fridge, I will eat it at any given opportunity (and working from home, that's a lot)!

SpringOn · 24/05/2023 15:53

Pepsi Max
i am four years alcohol free but I can’t kick my Pepsi Max habit.

Goodyetalso · 24/05/2023 15:56

I’m with you re: Coke Zero. I blame doing slimming world about 10 years ago. I was so depressed at the shit food I had to eat on it that I derived joy from diet fizzy drinks. Before that I only ever drank water but now I drink a lot of Coke Zero. Chocolate too - not high quality stuff, big bars of Dairy Milk even though it tastes rubbish compared to its former self. I have other guilty pleasures but Coke Zero and milk chocolate are the ones I feel compelled to have every single day. I don’t smoke, take drugs, rarely drink alcohol and don’t drink tea or coffee so I try to convince myself that it’s ok…
