What cheeses do you have in your fridge? In search of exciting new cheese

Yesterday, I got some Bleu d'Auvergne for the first time. We are really enjoying it. Have never met a blue cheese I didn't like, but when grocery shopping tend to always go for Roquefort/ Danish Blue/ Cashel Blue, all firm favourites.

But I want to get more adventurous! What do you have in your fridge that you really recommend?

Love all cheeses so needn't be blue. All ideas welcome Smile

Bleu d’affinois! It’s absolutely gorgeous. Creamy and blue.
I also have some soft goats and some Boursin, which I had on some fresh sourdough for lunch 🤤

At the moment we've got

Snowdonia Black Bomber (cheddar)
Harrogate Blue
Tickler Cheddar
Feta

Love all of them. My other current favourite is Tunworth, a strong, rinded soft cheese from Hampshire.

I'm low at the moment. I've some Vermont cheddar, Jarlsberg and Mozzarella for pizza.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 19/05/2023 20:49

Manchego, lovely with quince paste. Also Jarlsberg slices for sandwiches (especially nice in Waitrose olive ciabatta).

Not currently in my fridge but I love Harlech cheese. It has a horseradishy taste

A hood taleggio is with its weight in gold. Or reblochon.

Yum.

Not really that 'out there' or uncommon, but this is what I have currently

  • Cambozola
  • Vintage gouda
  • Brie de Meaux
  • Saint agur blue creme (I used it in a pear/walnut/rocket salad tonight)
  • vintage cheddar

Old Amsterdam, Gorgonzola, brie, cheddar, Cheshire and Roquefort. DH is a veggie so we always have lots of different cheeses and mushrooms.

Kyse23 · 19/05/2023 21:01

Blacksticks blue
Black bomber

AuntieMarys · 19/05/2023 21:02

Wensleydale, Yorkshire blue, Northumbrian nettle, a gin and lemon one and Manchego at the moment. We live near a fabulous cheesemonger. Try Lord London cheese....it is unbelievable

Badtasteflump · 19/05/2023 21:04

Am about to tuck into our Friday night cheese board😋. On it is Blacksticks Blue, Gruyere and Cornish Cove vintage Cheddar. Was also going to include a nice chunk of Brie but it fell into my mouth on the way to the cheese board 😁.

Takeitonthechin · 19/05/2023 21:05

Parmesan
Black sticks blue
Feta
Cheddar
Stilton
Brie

bellsbuss · 19/05/2023 21:07

Tickler
Stilton
Cathedral City
Boursin
Babybels

CatsOnTheChair · 19/05/2023 21:11

Awful selection right now, but my absolute favourite is Yarg.

Strathyre · 19/05/2023 21:11

Came on here for tips, and to recommend manchego. Particularly in a salad.

Also, one time the most expensive feta was on special offer in waitrose and it was amazing. I don't like feta but the expensive stuff is yummy!

Also comte.

847arc · 19/05/2023 21:13

Cave-aged cheddar
Cornish Yarg
Sparkenhoe Red Leicester
Sometset Brie
Parmesan

KidneyWarrior · 19/05/2023 21:13

St Agur blue creme. I'm obsessed with it, none in the fridge at the min - I only allow myself to have it at Christmas. My favourite food.

Strathyre · 19/05/2023 21:13

(None of these are in my fridge at the moment, that's more a wishlist)

LubaLuca · 19/05/2023 21:14

Really trying to not eat so much bloody cheese at the moment, so reading this is a chance for me to live vicariously through all of you who have self control.

I have Green Thunder and Black Bomber, and a bit of Lancashire. Parmesan too, but that's not something I would shove a wee wedge of into my mouth (I'm heading to the fridge now).

LivelyBlake · 19/05/2023 21:15

Coastal cheddar
Cambozola
Comte
Ossau Iraty

SilentParrot · 19/05/2023 21:15

I'm very fond of a little slice of Ossau-Iraty

SilentParrot · 19/05/2023 21:16

And I think parmesan is underrated as a nibbling cheese rather than just a cooking cheese.

gogohmm · 19/05/2023 21:16

Only got yarg and cheddar in currently. Off shopping tomorrow

Cheese is good for your gut biome. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

Wow, thank you for all these great ideas! I need to sit and google and analyse!

Also, fellow manchego and comte and gruyere fans, we are kindred spirits <3
