Any medics out there? I'm worried about my husband

He's 50. Had a urine infection with quite a lot of blood in Uribe about 12 days ago. Got antibiotics and the infection resolved, only to come back a three days later: very I'll this time, unable to leave bed even for the toilet. Passing urine ok although with less flow.

New antibiotics, seemed to be working and yesterday went out of the house and ate normally. but awful, awful shivering fits the night before and again last night, then profuse sweating. He's up now but we both sense something is very wrong.

He's under GP care and has some prostate test on Wednesday. I'm worried this could be sepsis or some form of organ failure. I think it's time for hospital but he's reluctant.

Glad your he got checked out. As soon as I read your post I thought the shivering was just his body fighting the infection. Hopefully he will recover very soon.
Hope you are feeling calmer yourself.

I’ve read your messages to the end and I’m glad you took him to a&e and he’s not as bad as you feared. My husband had sepsis it’s always what I worry about for everyone now

My father died of sepsis he got from a UTI. However, he was 63 and probably a lot more frail. Just keep an eye. Glad you went to A&E.

Hi I hope your husband is ok. Whatever the outcome please make sure he still has the prostate tests. I had a similar without the infection, fever symptoms with my husband. It took him 6 months and then he only went back to the dr as I made the appointment.
My husband had prostate cancer - rare in a 54 year old! So don’t worry!
Just make sure no matter what the outcome he gets a PSA test.
Caught early very treatable - just don’t let him or GP fob you off - demand a PSA test.

take care

My mum went in with a urine infection. Was unconscious on arrival at hospital and, sadly, never came out. Please don't underestimate the seriousness of any infection.

Always err on the side of caution.

Ring 111 at least if they think serious they will send ambulance then out of your hands

Hoping things are settling now

To me this signals all signs of prostate problems. My friends DF was like this. Had two lots of antiobiotics and ended up getting rushed in as was unable to wee. Please get his bloods PSA test done. Best wishes.

Go to the hospital.
I hope he feels good soon.
