I can imagine they are all a bit tired tbh
Probably not much sleep the last few days

fireplacetiles · 06/05/2023 14:20

That crowd makes me very uncomfortable- nope from me.

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 06/05/2023 14:20

@Casuaala You asked what the heralds do when they are not on parade. Look up College of Arms on wikipedia. My father was senior herald painter (ancient title for heraldic artist) and worked there for 38 years, which is why I know. As a child I visited the College of Arms several times. In the entrance hall (Earl Marshal's Court) there used to be a throne/chair roped off in the centre and Dad said the Queen had sat on it. When no-one was around, he lifted the rope so I could run over and sit on it.

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 14:21

Thank you @mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork When I was a child I was fascinated by heraldry. I remember when I realised that somebody with my background would get nowhere near such work.

Great!

We didn’t anything. Could just hear them.
more than just the red arrows and chopper though.
Think there’ll be other modern stuff. Dh knew what they were by sound but he’s gone off so I can’t ask

Sunbird24 · 06/05/2023 14:21

How lovely that Kate & Charlotte’s headpieces were made by someone who was able to start their business because of funding from the Prince’s Trust

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 14:22

I'm flagging now. Be glad when we've had the balcony waving.

I'd like to see the whole of Anita Rani's dress.

BlueThursday · 06/05/2023 14:22

Flight radar 24 has a good few visible

If you’re in Norfolk I’d expect it to be the Lightnings out of Marham?

the80sweregreat · 06/05/2023 14:23

You wouldn't see that much up the back
Love the crowns everywhere

I cannot see Harry and Meghan wanting to be King Henry and Queen Meghan. Besides, that wouldn't go down with the rest of the royal family or the public but Andrew would definitely not be accepted as our King. Could you imagine?

What are you blathering on about? Bloody ridiculous

SmurfHaribos · 06/05/2023 14:23

These are a few of my favourite things:

Sword bearer.
Kate and Charlotte.
The horses.
The soldiers.
Pomp and circumstance.
Rain.
Golden carriage.
The crowds in their Union Flag accessories.
The crowns and orb.
The golden dressing gown 😆

It would be lovely if this was used as an opportunity to champion British design and manufacture. The programme with Patrick Grant the other evening about tailoring uniforms was great but sadly much of the fabric is now imported .

MumofSpud · 06/05/2023 14:24

I love that India Hicks thinks that the clothes Kate wears are 'attainable' for all of us! Confused

Didn’t know that. That’s excellent.

History is constantly re-written as we find new evidence or re-evaluate previously known evidence in the light of new ideas and understanding.

And that does sometimes challenge the 'cosy' perspective that has been promoted on various issues. But that is because the 'cosy' perspective has been built on a limited selection of sources. The past is not so simple, and the way we understand it not so simple.

I suppose you’re right. Olusoga's "research" has been helpful in removing any guilt associated with Britain's colonial history. He points out that many Roman soldiers, that invaded, raped, pillaged, exploited and colonised the British Isles were African. And they stayed for much longer than the British in Africa! It is significant that Europeans that went to Africa were, actually returning to their ancestral homelands (all human life originated in Africa) in search of a better life.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 06/05/2023 14:25

Can't see them on flighradar but interesting seeing the RAF helicopters and planes

SoupDragon · 06/05/2023 14:25

I'd not really given any thought to how they line everyone up ready for a fly past

bluewanda · 06/05/2023 14:26

Gosh, they've certainly been unlucky with the weather.

BlueThursday · 06/05/2023 14:26

Camillas crown looks like it weighs as much as she does!

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 06/05/2023 14:27

Agree about Camillas crown it looks so heavy

MustardGreenAndPlum · 06/05/2023 14:27

Don’t lean forward HMs - don’t drop the crowns!

LIZS · 06/05/2023 14:28

Her hair has been redone

spottybug · 06/05/2023 14:28

I hope they had a quick sandwhich
