Someone asked me this question hypothetically if you had no children and you were only destined for one child what would you choose if you had the chance?

Girl

Girl

eatdrinkandbemerry · 21/04/2023 19:30

Boy
But I've got two girls and one boy

handsoffate · 21/04/2023 19:31

Boy. I had more male than female friends growing up (still do!), I’m the only girl in my generation so I was surrounded by male cousins and my dad, uncles and grandfather are/were great. Girls were some weird foreign concept growing up, I understand boys 😂

I always wanted a girl. I ended up with 2 girls then went on to have a boy.

I was not prepared for how amazing boys are. Now I have a boy I'd happily have all boys but I wouldn't change a thing. It's their personality that matters xx

Yes! Totally this. I just wasn't prepared for the greatness of my son having been totally bowled over by the awesomeness of my daughter.

Maybe it's not that important what sex they are...

roseberrycherry · 21/04/2023 19:33

I have both now, but when I first got pregnant I hoped for a girl

WorryMcGee · 21/04/2023 19:34

Girl. I don’t know why (and it does bug me that I had a preference) but I did. I have a DD and can’t have any more children so I’m pleased I got what I wanted.

BelindaMelinda · 21/04/2023 19:36

Boy.

Short hair.
No tights.
Can pee in a plastic bottle when caught short.
Less draaaaamma when teens.

MumofSpud · 21/04/2023 19:37

I would say a girl
I got one of each
But .... teenage girls are something else!

Willywanderer · 21/04/2023 19:38

Instinct is to say girl because men are awful but then dealing with men as a woman is worse than as a man (maybe...)... So maybe boy

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 21/04/2023 19:38

Boy but that’s what I have so can’t know what it’s like to have a girl!

I would not care either way. You get what you get and you love them whatever.

I think it is weird people have a preference for one or the other.

I have a preference because, all my favourite people are female. I wish I was a lesbian tbh. I think if I had to list the the top 100 people throughout my life, 95 of them would be female. 1 being my current boyfriend, who is an absolute gem, but, im 48 years old and I've never before met a man I actually liked.

Boy.
Stats show men are far more likely to leave the family unit when their offspring are solely female.

In case of someone who holds this view it'd be most likely not due to offspring.

Barleycat · 21/04/2023 19:42

Boy. I have two, they're fab

Geckle · 21/04/2023 19:42

I wanted a girl first and got my lovely dd.
When I was pregnant the 2nd time, I thought it would be great to have a boy & we got our lovely ds. One of each ❤️

fairywhale · 21/04/2023 19:43

Girl.

BishyBarnyBee · 21/04/2023 19:45

A terrible question which for some reason really gives me the rage. I'm surprised so many people are happy to answer it.

Perhaps it's because, having several friends who were unable to conceive, I'm very aware that not everyone gets the chance to be a parent. A child is a blessing, and their sex doesn't guarantee anything about their character, needs, interests or anything else really. If you have a strong preference for a particular sex, what happens if you get a very un-girly girl or an un-boyish boy? If you're saying you'd choose a girl and you actually have boys, what does that say about you as a parent?

Just take what you get and love the bejasus out of them!

Girl. Tbh I never understand why women would actively prefer a boy, what the appeal is (obviously pre having them and falling in love with them).

Same as we don’t understand your preference for a girl. The clue is in the word…. Preference!

dutysuite · 21/04/2023 19:50

I have one of each and I honesty couldn’t choose, however, my son has been easier than my daughter, there’s a lot less drama but that’s not to say I’d prefer a boy over a girl - I’d have to have the decision made for me😂

TMess · 21/04/2023 19:52

Boy. I have multiples of each though.

Morewineplease10 · 21/04/2023 19:57

Hmm. I wanted a girl and I got two.
Wouldn't change them but they are both very complicated/high maintenance!

Believe it or not most mums don’t spend time thinking about their sons dicks

overthinkersanonnymus · 21/04/2023 20:03

I don't have children (yet 🤞🏻) but I've always imagined having a daughter.

But as I've gotten older, I really wouldn't mind at all as long they slept well enough 😂

I like the idea of a little boy at school, football with DP, or getting involved with my baking and gardening etc but I also love the idea of a special bond between a mum and daughter as they go in to adulthood and beyond , like I had with my mum.

aSofaNearYou · 21/04/2023 20:05

Yes but my point is I understand why women prefer what they are, and why men prefer what they are. I don't really understand why women prefer boys.

But I guess a lot of it seems to come down to people's experiences with both sex. I would definitely say my experiences were worse with boys and men across the board.
