Someone asked me this question hypothetically if you had no children and you were only destined for one child what would you choose if you had the chance?

Well.be.only have boys so.going off my experience obviously a boy I'm sure I would feel the same if I had girls .

MiniEggsAllYear · 21/04/2023 16:29

I have one of each. Before kids if I could've chosen, I'd have chosen a girl. Now I think they're both brilliant in their own ways and obviously couldn't choose between them.

Girl - always wanted a girl that was an only child so lucked out.

A wise person once said to me “it doesn’t matter their gender, you will get what you always wanted, you just didn’t actually know that’s what you wanted until you got it”.

Very wise indeed.

slowquickstep · 21/04/2023 16:29

Love my boys but as adults they do their own thing and are only seen or heard from when they remember they have a Mum or need something, my Daughter is never off the phone.

Charlottewebsbabies · 21/04/2023 16:31

Years ago I would have said girl
Men outnumber the women in our family 4-1
I had one girl,4 boys and another girl
Both girls couldn't be less girly if they tried
If I could choose now,I wouldn't be bothered either way

Girl.
I got both and ds 17 is a nightmare, never speaks to me, eats like a horse, abuses me for not buying enough food, blocks up the toilet, leaves towels on the bottom of the batch, dirtiest every saucepan and burns them too, won't go to school... omg, I wish id had two gIrls

Workawayxx · 21/04/2023 16:33

I have one of each and before having any I would have said girl. Now, I think that my DS has made me learn more about life and about myself as a person than DD will (and I'd say DP will learn more from DD than a boy - it's no offence at all to DD girls in general) so I'd say boy on that basis.

I have a boy and a girl...I love them both equally.

I think you're generally correct though. Mine are teens and already I can see this dynamic.

That is a wise person!

snoopyscarpy · 21/04/2023 16:37

Before hand I'd of said girl any day. Now I have both I'd say boy!

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 21/04/2023 16:38

Thing is, for every person who is happy their grown up child is always on the phone to them, there will be someone who thought they’d have their life back by now and wishes their grown up kid was a bit more independent.

I hope my kids are always on the phone but I don’t have that relationship with my parents so don’t know! Will have to see how things turn out.

I have 2 boys and a girl and they’re all utterly divine so couldn’t poss choose. The girl is only 1 so can’t really judge our relationship yet.

SoupDragon · 21/04/2023 16:39

Boy, purely so I don't have to deal with periods. (I have both and my DD suffers with her periods)

FirstTimeBuyersHelp · 21/04/2023 16:39

Girl.

All I ever wanted. Was so over the moon that is what I got.

MissLucyLiu · 21/04/2023 16:40

Boy

i am an only child and my parents brought me up pretty much like a boy. I went to a girls only school and I don’t really understand girls that well.

carriedout · 21/04/2023 16:42

I would not care either way. You get what you get and you love them whatever.

I think it is weird people have a preference for one or the other.

OhmygodDont · 21/04/2023 16:47

Girl. I have one boy and two girls.

Reugny · 21/04/2023 16:51

Bigpinktrain · 21/04/2023 16:21

Either, both are equally wonderful and infuriating 😌

This.

Sex doesn't determine your child's character.

Whendovescry03 · 21/04/2023 16:55

I wanted a boy and got a boy.

In fact one of my (many) reasons for not going for a second child is that I really don't want a girl.

ComeOnThenFanny · 21/04/2023 16:58

I have one of each, dd 25, and ds 17 - they are both amazing in different ways, and infuriating in different ways. I would say boys are less complicated, but I couldn't miss out on the relationship with my daughter. I could never choose.

toodlesofoodles · 21/04/2023 16:58

Girl. I got 2 boys and a girl, and now have a dss as well.

Weallgottachangesometime · 21/04/2023 16:59

I genuinely wouldn’t have a preference

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 21/04/2023 17:00

Not able to have kids.

As long as they had 10 fingers, ten toes...

SundaeLove · 21/04/2023 17:03

Coffeeandbourbons · 21/04/2023 16:01

I would’ve said girl before DD was born, now I have one of each and love them both so much it’s impossible to say!

Same!

PippaF2 · 21/04/2023 17:04

Girl
