Someone asked me this question hypothetically if you had no children and you were only destined for one child what would you choose if you had the chance?

I would not care either way. You get what you get and you love them whatever.

I think it is weird people have a preference for one or the other.

This

and this:

I'd leave it up to chance. I don't have a preference.

mondaytosunday · 21/04/2023 17:46

Girl.

verabarbleen · 21/04/2023 17:50

It's hard to say now as I have a boy and a girl but before I had any I wanted a boy

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 21/04/2023 17:56

I'd be happy with either seeing as I haven't been blessed and now probably far too late for me

Goodyetalso · 21/04/2023 18:00

I always wanted a girl and was upset when I found out I was having a boy (and very ashamed about how I felt). But oh my goodness, he is such a bloody lovely kid and a total one off - quirky and funny. I can’t imagine why I ever wanted a girl and am glad I didn’t have one because he is so who I was meant to have in my life. And I’m pretty sure that most people must feel this way about their child if they ended up with the opposite gender to what they secretly hoped for.

Ketzele · 21/04/2023 18:02

Wanted girls, got girls, now think it doesn't matter. See preferences are nearly always based on stereotypes.

Aposterhasnoname · 21/04/2023 18:04

Girl, which is what I have, but I thought I wanted a boy. N I’ve seen with all my friends and family that the whole “son is a son till he takes a wife” thing is often true. DD and I are as thick as thieves, we do spa days, and days out with the just the two of us and the grandkids while SIL and DH are watching bloody cricket, and it’s lovely.

SensitiveB · 21/04/2023 18:07

we have both and love both. I would enjoy getting to know them and for me whether boy or girl not really relevant I don’t think

Season0fTheWitch · 21/04/2023 18:08

Girl. Always wanted to be a 'girl mum' and now I have 4!

HyuNis · 21/04/2023 18:09

Girl

hlc123 · 21/04/2023 18:10

Before I had children, I would have said girl, but knowing what I know now I think I'd say boy.

Easterfunbun · 21/04/2023 18:11

Easy. A daughter.

tulipsunday · 21/04/2023 18:11

I would have said girl but I am so pleased I have my boy so I am glad I didn't get it to choose.

ladygindiva · 21/04/2023 18:28

Girl, I have 3 so very happy. I had no preference beforehand though so if they had been boys would probably have said boy!

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/04/2023 18:29

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 21/04/2023 16:24

Easy for me.

Neither.

That gave me a good laugh just when I needed one. I thought the same as you!

I was really hoping for a girl. My one and only is a girl through ivf. She’s not at all what I envisioned but is what I wanted so very much. I imagine I’d have been equally happy with a boy. Dh just wanted a child so we both got our wish.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 21/04/2023 18:30

I always wanted a boy too.
In reality, he's been a lot easier than his younger sister so far.

Mrsfussypants1 · 21/04/2023 18:31

Girl. We were lucky enough to conceive our adult dd, she's an only child a second wasn't meant to be. All through my pregnancy I hoped for a petite girl, reason being the men in our family have had unusually shorter lives due to Marfans. Unusually on both my mum and dad's side too. All the women seem to be average height and the men all over 6ft with long limbs. This wasn't discovered until all the family were tested after my uncles death, both my male cousins and my brother have it. I can't pass it on, but after everything I would've worried. So a girl.

DarkDarkNight · 21/04/2023 18:33

I would have chosen girl, I’d always pictured myself with a girl. Now I have one boy and wouldn’t choose differently.

DarkDarkNight · 21/04/2023 18:33

I meant I would want a boy, not that I would still want a girl, I didn’t express that very well 😫

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 21/04/2023 18:34

Girl
