I hope they realise that the people who will be most excited for this programme are the people who read the books/saw the films as they came out - so, adults. And that this means they won't shy away from showing the more harrowing scenes.
I actually think they should start with a series for the back stories. I know that won't happen but I think it would save a lot of future flashbacks.
So the first episode would be about Voldemort's parents and grandfather and how his mother trapped his father with a love potion then stopped using it because she thought he really did love her only for him to want nothing to do with her or her baby.
Then an episode about Tom's childhood in the orphanage. Maybe showing him as normal and vulnerable to begin with but changing as he grows older.
Then an episode about him finding out he was a wizard and going to Hogwarts and his early years there.
Then an episode about Hagrid starting at Hogwarts and meeting Tom and Tom ultimately leading him to getting expelled.
Then an episode about Tom's life outside Hogwarts, applying for a teaching position, making horcruxes etc.
Then an episode about Snape's early life and meeting Lily and being excited about going to school with her only to meet James and Sirius.
Then an episode about James and his friends becoming the Marauders, making the map, picking on Snape and James falling in love with Lily.
Then an episode where Vodemort is getting powerful, gaining followers, Lucius getting Snape on side, James, Lily and Snape etc graduating.
Then an episode or two on the first wizarding war, ending with Harry 'defeating' Voldemort and maybe the series ending with Hagrid entering the bedroom and picking up baby Harry to take him to the Dursleys.
