How much do you get and what sector do you work in?

I'm interested in how many people get more than the legal minimum. No other reason than curiosity, most people I know get quite a lot and having a discussion with someone who says most people get the minimum.

30.5 I think. Bank holidays come out of that, but as I don't work on Mondays (I do 4 days) it works out well for me.
We get an extra day at Christmas, and the last few years they have closed the office meaning we get 3 extra days. Not sure if they will be doing that permanently though.

25 days plus BH with option to buy another 5 days which I do. So 30 plus BH.

DH also 25 plus BH but no option to buy extra.

Before our current jobs both of us only had the minimum which was 20 plus BH. I think it's pretty poor tbh. I now won't ever apply for a job that offers less than 25 + BH. Also bonus points if they have the option to buy more. I think any company that offers less than 25 is clearly a shit company who doesn't value its employees. Especially in 2023 when its pretty well established that having a decent work life balance aids productivity, treating staff well, flexitime, hybrid working, 4 days instead of 5, etc.

Companies that only offer the minimum AL allowance, minimum wage, minimum pension contributions, etc. Are clearly just utter shit. Especially in job adverts where under perks and benefits they list: 20 days + Bank Holidays! As if that's a benefit it's the fucking minimum required.

25 plus bank holiday

37 days plus bank holidays. It's one of the only reasons I stay

25 plus banks plus the additional days needed to have between Christmas and New Year off

26 days plus bank hols, plus birthday, and we close the office between Christmas and New Year.

And I can take up to 40 hours a year (1 week) for childcare if I need it, so I'll use some of that on parents evenings etc.

@TroysMammy the relevant case law Harper v Brazel whilst relating to irregular and term time only contracts highlights the following:

The statutory entitlement for annual leave is 20 + statutory Bank holidays. Depending on your holiday year this could be 10 including the Queen's funeral and coronation but usually 8.

If you work a fractional contract and you mentioned 20 hours pw, based on 35hpw this is 1040 hours per year of a possible 1820. This is a fractional contract of 0.57. Therefore you should receive 0.57 of the annual pay and 15.96 (16 days - A/L being always rounded up) of paid holiday whether you work the Bank Holiday days or not. If you have a colleague who works Tues/Weds/Thurs they may be receiving more pay because they never work the bank holidays than they are entitled to.

@RosesAndHellebores my colleague works Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and as we are closed on bank holidays she gets bank holidays on top of her holidays, therefore she gets extra paid days off than I do. In my mind paid days off = holiday. I don't work Mondays so obviously I'm not in work anyway but I don't get paid.

@TroysMammy - you should. Your colleague's pay may need to be adjusted. You would think the science/maths brains of GPs could wend their way round the calculations.

Don’t you get extra paid days instead? I don’t work Monday’s but get an extra paid day to take whenever I like for every bank hol that is on a Monday. That’s why I chose to not work Monday’s!

42 days. Includes bank holidays (we may have to work them so get the days included in the leave total) and we work an extra couple of hours per week above our contracted hours which gives us extra days leave. The only day nobody has to work is Christmas Day which is taken from our leave. This is as a driver on the underground

@AlltheFs no. I get paid what I work so the 9 bank holidays this year, January to December I should get paid for 3 even though my only working day off will be Good Friday. My colleague who works Mondays will get paid for 8 as Friday is one of her days off and she'll also get her annual leave entitlement.

24 days plus 9 days for bank holidays.

I also buy a week so all in 38 days, next year as I have been here 5 years I will get an extra 3 days.

Oh I'm in banking

38 plus Bank Holidays (kept my UK contract when I transferred overseas). Can buy up to five days extra each year which I always do.

7.2 weeks(including Bank Holidays). Supermarket, so the only day's we are shut is Xmas day and Easter Sunday. Think the standard is 6.2 weeks, plus I've worked there 10 years, so gained the extra week.

The equivalent of 28 days but the between Christmas and New Year break has to be included in that (usually 2 or 3 days each year). And bank holidays.

Sorry, not the equivalent of 28 days! I mean the equivalent of 4 weeks, which is 20 days isn't it?

Looking back through this thread I can see my employer is particularly mean!

26 days plus bank holidays and an extra week at Christmas. We get an extra day's holiday a year up to a max of 29. I also get flexi time which adds extra. We can carry over 5 days so for this coming year i will have 31 days to take.

27 days, plus 8 public holidays.
plus an option to purchase an additional 10 days which I do every year.

35 days + bank holidays.
Further education management.

For years I worked term time only, 39 weeks a year / 13 weeks holiday.
I miss those days!

40 including public holidays, which I can take when I want (non customer facing role).
