Just heard Alison Hammond is to co host Bake Off. Totally ruined it for me now. Bad enough when Mel and Sue left. I’m not sure Mr Hollywood is going to appreciate the competition.

I can't stand her. Instant switch off when she appears.

Alison will be great on the show. Yes of course she is very OTT but she is a very bubbly, fun and likeable character. She has had a long career in television already so I'm sure she will tone it down a bit to match the show. I can't wait for the next series!!!

Hammond or no Hammond it's not for me anymore. Gone are the days of just.. .you know baking things and it's more 'construct a replica of a landmark/monument you once visited' blah blah blah, and other ostentatious shite.

controversially i prefer Pru to Mary. Alison is definite improvement on Matt Lucas Personally i'd like to see Paul Hollywood replaced - he's awful.

Bake off has lost all that has made it cosy and wholesome. Now it's just another piece of shite on the telly

I agree. Noel Fielding is very obscure as a comedian, and while still has his own personality, it is very much toned down for GBBO.

I will be glad to lose Matt Lucas as can't stand him. Don't know who Alison Hammond is but do long as she isn't too gobby hopefully she will be ok.

The only reason we still watch Bake Off is because dd2 has a thing for Noel Fielding. When she goes to uni in September we probably won't bother watching any more. Mel + Sue + Mary 4 life!

I'm really happy she's joining, I really love her bubbly personality and she's quite funny too.

Oh dear god - not that awful woman, she's so annoying I switch off the TV when she starts. It won't be about the baking and contestants now, it will all about her and her big drain-like laugh - unless someone tells her to rein it in and she actually listens to them.

Bye-bye Bake Off...it was fun, for a while.
